Because they suck at governing.
Because if the Democrats do not hand them a good economy, they will make matters much, much worse and they will be discredited for a long time to come.
The economy is starting to improve but not so much that the Republicans cannot turn it around and start it back downhill once again. There is a disaster in the waiting if the Republicans win the next election.
The only bigger losers than the Republican Party would be the American people, especially those at the lower and mid-levels of our economy. They will suffer immensely under a Republican Administration at this time. A victory for Romney and the Repubs would be a loss for America.
Republicans don't really want to win because they know they suck at governing. Because they hate government. It is difficult to excel at something which you dislike so intensely.
Unfortunately, the Democrats will not grow the economy a lot in the next four years either. But, comparatively speaking, it will be like daylight and dark...

We suffer.
They want to win because they are really good at benefiting the 1%.

(1,372 posts)Reason I think so is that the banks and business have held back for so long in oreder to try to help the GOP make Obama fail. They have to start doing business sometime just to help themselves.
If the GOP fails to trake over I think you'll see a major improvement.
I may be wrong - Others with more of a finance background may have other ideas.

(611 posts)I see little evidence that Repugs in national office have any interest in actually governing, in recent times. They're there to un-govern. They don't want to make things work. They want to break things, keep things from working. They want power and, yes, they suck at governing. Given a win, they'll still be perfectly happy to wield power. Governing won't be an issue for them.
And next time there's an election, they'll have come up with a new bag of tricks to help themselves get power again.
Hmm. Am I grumpy today? I think I may be. Sorry if my tone seems objectionable.
