This situation just keeps getting stranger and stranger.

Why would Sweden drop the case? If they've got evidence, shouldn't they pursue it?

...until a second prosecutor decided it should go ahead. So it's not that strange he should say that.

As to whether there is a chance of it being dropped for a second time, I have no idea.

would suggest either wishful thinking on his part, or he's hinting at some sort of inside knowledge.

Either way.

Especially that "unusual world event we can't predict..."

War with Iran. That's one of the things he think would lead to his situation being resolved.

As we used to say in the kitchen: check your burners, I think one must be out.

it will cast a brand new light on Pres. Correa and his motives here. Assange would be the perfect propagandist for a government who has a horrible record with regard to freedom of the press. Correa's record, reportedly, is "among the very worst in the Americas". Everyone should take a look at this link entitled: "Free Speech in Ecuador has Limits", leaving some Ecuadorian journalists scratching their heads in amazement at Correa's hypocrisy.
