(18,290 posts)I thought it was a Bermuda flag when I saw the border surrounding the interior coat of arms, but the oval part confused me. However, you might be right that the flag is simply Cayman's outdated civil ensign.

(116,464 posts)The Bermuda flag is also red, but the insignia on the flag is the same as on the Cayman flag.
It's a Cayman flag. It's registered in Cayman.

There were conflicting reports on whether the yacht flew a Cayman Islands flag or a Burmese flag (ABC reports it was a Cayman Islands flag), but the craft does appear to be registered in the Cayman Islands.

Update: In a series of hilarious updates, presented below in chronological order, the Free Beacon learned that ABC News Knows Their Flags:
UPDATE (1:31 p.m.): According to Charter World, the yacht is officially registered in the Caymans; its home port is in Fort Lauderdale. ABC reports the flag the yacht is flying is the Cayman flag; the flag is the Bermudan flag, however. It is unclear why the yacht is flying a Bermudan flag.
UPDATE (1:40 p.m.): Upon further review, there are in fact multiple Cayman Island flags, and it appears that the original report by ABC News Brian Ross correctly identified the flag flying on the boat in question. The Washington Free Beacon regrets the error.

(22,785 posts)How does Willard Romney explain yachting it up with that flag to our men and women in the Navy, the Marines, the Air Force, the Army, the National Guard?
How does Willard Romney explain this to the families who have sacrificed their husbands, wives, daughters, sons and loved ones in war under the American flag?
How does Candidate Romney square this with our wounded veterans?
This is a real story that goes right to the GOP's pretense of owning the American flag and patriotism.
Don't let this story die.
This could take Romney down.
