Vaughn murder trial: Fear, anger, then ‘That’s him.’

By JON SEIDEL AND ERIKA WURST Sun-Times Media August 21, 2012 6:32AM

The sister of Christopher Vaughn’s dead wife said Tuesday the late Kimberly Vaughn was her “best friend” as her raspy voice cracked and tears flowed down her face in the most emotional testimony so far in Vaughn’s murder trial.

When prosecutors asked the sister, Elizabeth “Nikki” Isemann, to point to Vaughn — the man charged with murdering Kimberly Vaughn and the couple’s three young children — a look of fear flashed across her reddening face, followed by anger. She reluctantly looked and pointed at Vaughn, sitting at the defendant’s table in the tan suit coat he’s worn ever since his trial began.

She seemed to mouth something at Vaughn. Then she told the jurors, “That’s him.”

And she brought a tissue to her face.
