17. I was looking for a source for the OP and found this Limbaugh comment about Akin:
Tue Aug 21, 2012, 01:06 PM
Aug 2012

Limbaugh said that he was not prepared to throw Akin “under the bus” as have so many conservative pundits and lawmakers. However, he said Akin’s comments are reflective of a personality that is sequestered in only pro-life circles and rarely, if ever, encounters a dissenting opinion.

“This whole business that a woman’s body shuts down after rape – there’s no evidence for that,” said Limbaugh. “That’s the kind of thing that people who do nothing but talk amongst themselves will conjure up – a belief system like that – and they’ll grab onto anything they can to support what their empirical belief is.”

Limbaugh said that he has heard similar claims about pregnancies that result from rape before from pro-lifers. He called that point of view “absurd” and “not intelligent.” He went on to say that Akin’s defense of life was noble, but that he went about making his case with “glorious ineptitude.”

He went on to condemn the Republican’s “circular firing squad.” He went on to claim that Democrats elevated Akin to be the party’s nominee in a tightly contested three-way primary.

If you listen to that soundbite closely, Akin never mentions the health or welfare of the mother, only the "unborn". It was all about protecting the cells over the evil mother that may expel it from her body. This not only demonizes women who have an abortion for any reason...including rape but also those who have miscarriages.

Right on cue Rushbo rushes to defend the indefensible and doubles down. The benefit is with the 5pm deadline looming and Rushbo weighing in on Akin's side it could be just enough to keep him in the race beyond the 5pm deadline. Rove must be spitting nails.

Aug 2012

I would think that if he said it, someone on our side of the fence would already have picked it up and run with it. But I can't find anyone saying anything about it, which gives me pause.

I hope he did say it, that would be phenomenal. It would turn women and independents to us in a big way.

I did search for 'Limbaugh' on Google News and came across this transcript:

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2012/08/21/akin_s_remark_was_stupid_and_untrue_now_he_must_put_the_nation_s_future_first

And this is probably what the OP is referring to:

If you strip this down, what Akin was trying to say was something very simple. I don't think abortion should even happen in rape. That's what he was trying to say. Let's just strip away all the other stuff. There are a group of pro-lifers who profoundly believe that, and they talk to each other, and they try to come up with ways of persuading other people to agree with them on this. Because their view is, it's not the baby's fault. Why are we gonna kill the baby? Why should there be an exception? The baby is the essence of innocence in every act of conception. The baby is entirely innocent, is what they believe, and so an exception to them weakens the entire argument.

If it is, then the OP is wrong, because he/she puts "The only innocent here is the baby" in quotes. Which doesn't do us any good to lie about it, because it's easily disproven.

That being said, I hope he did say it, and that someone can cite it. It would be as close to Christmas in August as you can get.

word while driving....BUT the gist is the same.

From the quote you posted...If in Limbaugh's argument, it's not the baby's fault...then whose fault is it? Like typical Repuke idiots, he completely marginalizes and removes the women who would be FORCED TO CARRY A RAPIST' CHILD TO TERM from the equation. Then he makes it worse by saying "the baby is the essence of innocence in every act of conception"...Really Rush? In every "act of conception"???

In a brutal gang rape, a fertilized egg is "more" innocent than the victim of the rape? When a 12 year old is raped by her uncle, or father...the resultant fertilized egg is "more" innocent than the victim? When a woman is drugged and raped repeatedly...the fertilized egg is "more" innocent than the rape victim? When a woman is beaten to within an inch of her life and raped and sodomized, the fertilized egg is "more" innocent than the victim?

That's what is disgusting about this pig and other pigs on the right. The woman is simply a vessel to carry a fertilized egg to term, because, afterall...that egg has more rights than the woman carrying it.

so I reject Limbaugh's argument out of hand that there is an innocent baby being hurt somehow. The rest of it is just his usual blather, the blather of entitled men who don't have to deal with the possibility of a rapist impregnating them.

I've got no quibble with anything you've said, my friend. I just saw the quote marks, which imply a direct quote, and went looking for them. When I couldn't find them, I was curious. That's all.

...what it amounts to is declaring the woman nonexistent. Women have no say and are not considered when making these "moral equations" -- they always, without fail, leave the woman out of the equation.

The woman does not exist as a protected person in their version of "the law". She cannot express her own interests. Everyone else in the world can chime in on the rightness or wrongness of her having an abortion; but she herself has no standing and cannot make arguments from her own interests.

When it comes to a fetus, it must NEVER EVER take second place to the woman. It's the WOMAN who must take second place, third place, last place, no place -- always and ever.

A-holes.

What's the BIG DEAL?? REPUBLICANSforRAPE.org lists the pictures and names of 30 GOP senators who voted against Al Franken's anti-rape amendment to the 2010 military appropriations bill (which passed anyway and was signed into law by anti-rape president Obama). Rape is one of the EIGHT TRADITIONAL FORMS OF BIBLICAL MARRIAGE approved by god and accepted as true by Republicans... see Deuteronomy 22: 28-29 for detailed instructions: ONLY if you get caught raping a virgin of any age outside the city, THEN you pay her poppa $50 of silver shekels and THEN you bought you a wife who has to put out and do your laundry and cook your dinner and have your kids without socialized medicine. And a rapist could have as many rape-wives as he wanted to buy, because polygamy was also one of the REPUBLICAN APPROVED EIGHT FORMS OF BIBLICAL TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE. The rapist only had to pay for the ones that he got caught in the act raping, "legitimate" rape, not those he-said-she-said disputed rapes where she was probably asking for it.
