Many, many on in the progressive movement claimed Bush/Cheney were the Anti-Christ (I still suspect there is some truth to that). Christians that don't understand their own faith or suspect that Revelations may have been a bad acid trip believe this crap. They are looking for any sign that the end could be near. I suspect this is because they are so full of hate and misery, anything would be better than their current lives. Isn't that sad?
My life is far from perfect but you know...I have relatively good health, lucky to have a decent job with good benefits, live in a relatively safe and comfortable home, can afford to eat and live relatively well including a nice vacation and some luxuries once in a while. For that I am eternally grateful. I have terrific friends and a close relationship with my only sibling now that both of my parents are deceased. But I'm not angry at the world.
I get the sense that these "Rapture nuts" are looking for an escape from loveless marriages, horrific home lives, etc. It is as if they are hoping for this to escape some kind of terrestrial hell.
