Should Reid checkmate Romney on the taxes before the convention or after?

I'm sure he's got proof and is just waiting on the right time to use it. I'm thinking he shoudl throw it out there before the convention to put a black cloud over the whole thing. We shouldn't give them a chance to pull together and support Romney/Ryan, we want them all fighting and angry.

was all the air going out the convention hall.

That timing would completely capture the headlines of every major media outlet in the U.S.

Not that gopers would notice ... faux"news" would carry on with the speechifying.

Before gives the repugs a chance to dump him and nominate someone else from the convention floor. Someone who will end up only having to survive a couple month election with no primary bruises and very little vetting. I don't want Rmoney out until after there's no chance for a Jeb Bush or Chris Christie to swoop in and "save the day".

I can't wait to see an all out brawl at the Republican convention, agitated Ron Paul people, old 'real' conservatives and the Nazis all fighting for the nomination after Romney completely blows it....this could get fun.

Give him a "dead cat bounce" and keep everybody occupied until the DNC.

Or I suppose that maybe even after the DNC would be better since we do want people paying attention to the DNC and it would just further sink any Romney-mentum not already squashed by Obama's post-DNC bounce

The dems will be able to HAMMER the issue at the dnc convention. The public will know exactly what they are talking about because it will have been in the news for several weeks.

would be good, but the only problem we don't want it to overshadow the Democratic Convention or get lost in the shuffle. Even if it was during the Repub Convention, would they really have time to play a switch on a new presidential nominee. How would that work, would Ryan still be running mate??

Make it the Dems who dole out the "October Surprise" for a change. Mid October would do, but who knows what the early voters will think.

If it's before the convention, then it can more easily get swept under the table and reframed on the GOP's terms. Even if Reid timed this to peak as a story during the convention, it's likely to be buried under all the other political rhetoric and highlights. It would not hit the undecided voters as strongly and would come off as petty partisanship.

If it's after the convention, it completely obliterates their positive image work.

There will be the usual uptick in favorable opinion of Romney/Ryan from the convention coverage, but as soon as that starts to settle - THEN the Dems need to hit hard. That's when a huge punch like Reid's should come.
