Late acting legend Paul Newman loomed large at Harvey Weinsteins Connecticut fund-raiser for President Obama this week. The stars widow, Joanne Woodward, was a guest, and food was provided by Newmans own Westport restaurant, the Dressing Room. Joanne was heard telling the president, If Paul were still alive, hed be here tonight. He was always a huge supporter of yours, a spy told us. And when asked who he expected would be Mitt Romneys running mate, rather than dodge the question, Obama wrongly guessed Tim Pawlenty, explaining he believed Republicans would go for a safe choice. Also at the shindig were Anne Hathaway, Aaron Sorkin, Olivia Munn and Marlo Thomas.

(47,992 posts)I would buy your husband's products anyway, because they are superior products in EVERY way, but most especially from the heart as the lives that you and Paul have lead so clearly show, so you have just made many of us doubly happy to always pick the Newman's product from our grocery shelves.
Paul & Joanne!

(47,992 posts)People who did well for themselves and actually shared of their substance in like degree to their own opportunities. Highly developed intellectually and artistically, but also just really real persons too.
I have to admit a little affinity for Joanne Woodward, as my second husband was also called Paul and loved race cars and their engineering in every detail. He even owned a couple of Lotuses in his more successful days. He used to watch Formula 1 and tell me all of the stories associated with it in the greatest detail. As you can guess, I like to talk about my Paul; he was a brilliant interesting man. His mother was a pioneering business woman in this city. Their generations will be missed.
