Our campaign would be helped immensely if we had an agreement between both campaigns that we were only going to talk about issues and that attacks based upon business or family or taxes or things of that nature, Romney said, according to excerpts of an upcoming interview with NBCs Chuck Todd released Friday.
Romney said he would prefer the campaigns only talk about issues, and claimed that our ads havent gone after the president personally.
We havent dredged up the old stuff that people talked about last time around. We havent gone after the personal things.
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul offered up a broader take on whether Romney was really suggesting that his career at Bain Capital the crux of his argument that he is better equipped to handle the economy should be considered off-limits.
The governor was expressing his view that he hopes we can have a campaign focused on the issues rather than one of desperation and lies as weve seen from the Obama campaign, Saul said in an e-mail.

Don't let this tax return issue drop. It needs to be explained why the 99%

Family? I think everyone agrees that the Romney family is an intact nuclear family, as is the Obama family. Clean living, healthy and smart kids, loving first spouses... the Cleavers and the Huxtables. Both fine families.
I wonder why he threw in "family", unless that includes Bain steering investment money to one of the Romney boys' businesses.
Now, if anyone wants to play "who's your daddy?" in the distinct political sense which has, oddly, become an obsession to some for the first time that the present has a darker shade of skin than previous presidents, I don't see the gain either way. We've had adopted or fatherless presidents (Ford, Clinton), and both Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama are a generation removed from polygamy in their family histories.
"Religion", strangely, is not on the list, because that's a FUN one:
1. Mr. Obama is the secret Muslim who, nonetheless, "sat in the pew for years" listening to the scary black Christian preacher; and
2. Mr. Romney believes a con man dug up holy golden plates which nobody ever saw, translated them by looking at rocks in a hat, learned the plates were put there by the original Hebrew inhabitants of the Americas and, consequently, wears sacred underwear. And, whatever your opinion happens to be, the fact of the matter is that the evangelical backbone of GOP religious voters has unequivocally and expressly taught that Mormonism is pretty much an abomination.

What a crybaby.
They haven't repeated the personal attacks of four years ago because they didn't work then and they won't work now. The RW has played the unAmerican, birther, Muslim, fraud, African, Socialist, etc. card for four years. What new lies is Rmoney going to come up with?
They can attack his record of the past four years, but they have to be prepared for immediate responses calling out their lies, to say nothing of the latest "revelation" that it has been republican party policy for four years to block Obama at every step of the way. So, you want to talk policy, go ahead. But you ain't got nothin' to go on, so have at it.
As for asking that business record and tax returns be off the table, I also thought this was an Onion report. The man is 65 years old and for most of his adult life has been in business. To sort of paraphrase Rmoney, that's fair game, my friends. Also, he may not want to run on his record as governor, which is understandable since MA showed a net job loss over the course of his term and a 66% disapproval rating when he left office, but when that's all you have as an elected official, what does he think, that it's not open to discussion. What planet is this man living on?
Edited to add:
Oh, an one more thing. Does this clown not realize that no matter what he might choose to cover or not cover in his ads, he has no control over the PACS (allegedly). And they do not play well with others. And, for the first time in decades, neither does our side. So, stop whining, put on your grown up pants, and get with the program.
