Three reasons Mitt Romney is losing

He is not a very good candidate

The common wisdom after the primaries was that Romney was an effective campaigner who would give President Obama a real challenge in the charm offensive. Romney is blessed with a good “look” for a presidential candidate, particularly a Republican presidential candidate, but it takes more than good looks to get votes. Overall, Romney has shown himself to just not be a very good candidate.

Romney is playing defense

There are exceptions, but a general survey of the political headlines shows Romney on defense, and the Obama campaign on offense. Even though they have much less money than Romney, the Obama campaign and pro-Obama super PACs have succeeded in getting more bang for the buck by creating controversy with the few ads they have purchased.

The facts are not on Romney’s side

Finally, Romney could be losing simply because the facts of these various controversies are not in his favor.

To do away with the Bain attacks, Romney could open himself up to an interview about his past with the company, and be willing to disclose the details of his role with the company over various years. The Romney campaign has refused to open their candidate up to these interviews, or provide the documentation proving Romney played no role in the firings at Bain. As a result, the story lives on, partially because there is evidence that Romney played a very active role at Bain, while the company was laying off thousands of workers and shipping jobs overseas.

To prove, once and for all, that Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) is a liar and that Romney did pay his taxes, Romney could release his tax returns from the previous ten years, as Romney’s father did when he ran for president. Romney has refused to release these tax returns, probably not because Romney did not pay taxes, but instead because there is some other kind of damaging information in the returns, such as more offshore bank accounts. The false story about Romney's not paying taxes lives on because Romney believes the real story is even worse.

That is why he keeps running for POTUS.

...and that is why he sticks his kids face in to butter...he is not a inwardly secure person.

Nobody likes him. Nobody.

Does he have any friends? He's surrounded by ass-kissers who are hoping they'll get something out of him and people who are afraid of him. That's it.

Even people who worked with him at Bain said they had no idea who he was or what he thought. He bonded with no one.

He was a pampered rich kid who bullied other kids. He was an authoritarian religious figure who told people what to do and they just shut up and did it -- or were put on trial. And he was a vulture capitalist who just took over companies and ordered people around.
