How quickly they change their minds..Found in our little rightwing local rag:

Orchids: For the new health care that we have. I never thought much about it before. Our son, a student at UMD, slipped and fell on ice. He broke his arm and cracked his head. He was overnight at the hospital. When we got the bill, my hair stood on end. Thank God, Obamacare lets us keep our children on our insurance until 26. There would have been no way we could have paid the bill and keep our son in college. So now, I am not for repealing it. I didn't know what was in it, and that our family would need it so much. Merry Christmas to you, ours will be.

This seems to be typical of right-wingers--they go all out for a given charity cause (cancer, diabetes, whatever) only after it affects THEM in some personal way.

I attribute this phenomenon to their inability to have true empathy for others--they just can't imagine themselves in someone else's shoes until they actually find themselves there.

The individual mandate is what opponents claim to be unconstitutional. The entire Affordable Care Ammendment isn't on the line because of the way it was filed in court.
The law can still stand without that part, but some substitution will have to be added to make the plan work.

Without the IM young people who are healthy will likey not want to participate until serious health issues arise. By then their medical bills will outweigh the contributions made by others. It'd be like making Social Security voluntary until people feel like paying in, then giving full benefits upon reaching 65.

I'm confident smart people are already at work on "plan B", because there's no way Obama will want to sacrifice what many feel will be the lasting legacy of his presidency.

They'll have to choose between corporate profits and making President Obama look bad. The money and corporations will win in the end, as they always do with these treasonous bastards.

It is a horrible shame that so many people benefit from health care reform but some will bash it without thinking of the consequences for very many people. Personal responsibility means we are all in this together, not just the rich elites and privileged who won't be affected if health care is demolished just because it's not perfect.

Not to mention grossly ignorant. "I didn't know what was in it, yet I was against it." Typical. It's how they are with environmental and other regulations, too. Look how the repugs in Nebraska cheered on the oil sludge pipeline--until they found out it was crossing their water supply.

Newt is now a big supporter of research into brain disorders, because he was personally moved by his mother's ailment.

Research into other areas of health, not so much. Putting money into expanding health care, naw. Those things don't affect Newt "personally" (or don't immediately add to his personal wealth), so they should be reduced or eliminated.

its easier to go along with the familiar talking points than find out the truth. Most of the Republicans I talk to listen to their elected leaders and do no investigation on their own. The republicans count on ignorance to push their agenda. they get fed a complete right wing diet. With all the Fox and Limpdick trimmings.
They act as if they did not know that they were paying more in co-pays and medical cost with health care insurance. The Tea party would rant about they did not want Government coming in between them and their doctors. But it was okay for the Insurance companies to come between them and their doctors. They would say how do they come in between me and my doctors thats not true. And I always tell them the facts, If your doctor prescribes a medication that is not covered on your health insurance, you must pay or choose another medication that may or may not be what your doctor really wants you to take. If he wants a specialized treatment, it may not be covered. You must pay!!!! Which leads to the question, if I am paying for health care why can't I get Health care. And before the Affordable Care Act Health care cost were one sixth of the american weekly paycheck. By 2020 the cost would be one third of the American paycheck. If you are giving up one third of your check to health care cost, would you have to give up groceries for medication? Would you give your home payments? Bills? Clothing? These are the choices that every day Americans were having to make with and without insurance, to stay healthy.
