I hate to sound negative but I thought it might not work. Looks like I have egg on my face. But I am glad that I do!

It wasn't until touchdown when the room went totally nuts and all I was thinking is they didn't mention the tether release so I was picturing the whole rig getting picked up and tossed across the surface while everyone was hugging.

that disaster would strike when the rover and its "bridle" would be separated from the reentry vehicle. For instance the rockets would fail to fire and the whole thing would go crashing to the ground. OR that the sky crane maneuver would fail to work. Those steps just seemed to me to be the most nuts and where Murphy's Law would raise its head.

I was totally wrong on both counts. Everything went as planned.

Those at JPL have my salute!

Well, that's enough for me tonight. Good Night all!
