Wow! After over a year of unemployment...

Three count 'em, THREE companies are actively seeking me out.
I have a second interview today with one company
I have a THIRD interview with another company on Monday
AND my old company reached out from out of the blue and wants to interview me for another open position.

Neither three blinked when I put my salary range a $1k below to $15,000 above where I was last year.

I could be employed very, very soon!

I believe things are really, finally, turning around.

I've been largely unemployed or underemployed for the last three years. Since finishing graduate school in 2009 with an MA in Graphic Arts, I've managed to scrape by with temporary retail and food-service jobs (it didn't hurt that my wife has a decent full-time job, but it's been really tight).

During this time, I applied for literally over 1000 "real" jobs all over the place; in my field, out of my field, local jobs, jobs in other states, even other countries. I had a total of six interviews, and got nothing. After over two years of that, I decided to take some more courses (I could only afford to pay the tuition by selling my car (!) but it was necessary to defer otherwise-unpayable student loans and hopefully to get some skills people would pay me for).

Suddenly the past couple of months things have really changed. I now have part-time teaching positions at two local colleges! I'll be teaching Photoshop. It feels good and it gives me hope that things are improving for other people as well.

I'm in the same boat, over a year unemployed, then suddenly 2 weeks ago I had a slew of recruiters calling me out of the blue. As a result, I just started a new job w/ a 10% salary boost from my last employment.

I'm going to say the August economic report will be a huge boost for Obama. Bookmark this.
