Einstein said it best

In 1944 Einstein stated, "Behind the Nazi party stands the German people, who elected Hitler after he had in his book and in his speeches made his shameful intentions clear beyond the possibility of misunderstanding".

Sound familiar? All you have to do is change a few names and it sounds more like 2024 than 1944.

I don't understand the Cohen testimony concern

First of all, a 1:36 phone call can easily cover two subjects. Cohen tells Keith that he's being harassed online. Keith says, "do you have his phone number". Cohen says "yes". Keith says, "text it to me". Cohen, "Is the boss there?". Keith, "Ya". Cohen, "Let me talk to him". Trump: "Ya". Cohen, "You know that thing with Stormy we talked about in your office with Allen?" Trump: "Ya". Cohen; "It's all set." Trump. "Great. Just get it done." I don't know if this was the conversation, but the timeline is certainly possible for a minute and a half conversation on two subjects.

In addition, Cohen and Trump had at least a half dozen other telephone conversations on the subject in which Trump could have participated in and confirmed the conspiracy.

I expect this to be dealt with in re-direct.

I confess, that I believe polls, but

I read the polls. I realize, even when accurate, they are just a snapshot in time. Here's the but.

But there is no question that actual voters are a more accurate gage. In Republican Primary after Primary, Nikki Haley is receiving substantial support, even weeks after dropping out and doing no campaigning. Here's my take. in the cross tabs of the polling, Trump is getting 92% of Republican votes. Yet, Haley is getting somewhere between 15% and 20% of the actual vote in closed primaries. That means only Republicans are voting and I know that's a more accurate number than any poll could be.

Where is this 20% in the NY Times poll? Where is this 20% in any poll. Those voters sure change the bottom line. They seem to find the disaffected Democrats in the poll, yet Biden consistently overperforms those numbers in the same primaries.

Add to that that every special election has had the Democrats overperforming since the 2020 election and it seems we're being undercounted. I don't know why. I don't think it's a plot of any kind, but it sure doesn't add up. Somebody is missing something.

Sound Familiar?

“Our prisons will open and a time will come when today’s accused become the accusers!”—Adolf Hitler, testimony during his 1924 trial,

If Adolf Hitler had not been tried by the People’s Court for high treason in 1924, the twentieth century might have been very different. Sometimes a trial can provide a defendant with a platform for changing minds. Adolf Hitler knew how to communicate—and when a sympathetic judge provided him the opportunity to showcase his verbal skills and spread his ideas, he took full advantage of the situation. Trials can alter the course of history. And the trial of thirty-four-year-old Hitler for his leading role in the botched 1923 “Beer Hall Putsch” is clearly a prime example of that truth.

Isn't this evidence proof of guilt?

This old tweet, in Trump's own word, confirm that he paid Cohen as an attorney, therefore attorney's fees. As I understand the defense, they contend Trump did not enter the attorney's fees in the ledger and had no knowledge of that indication. Yet this 2018 tweet proves otherwise.

An old tweet of his was admitted into evidence in his hush-money trial Friday, and the post appears to challenge what Trump’s legal defense has tried to claim since opening statement.

In May 2018, Trump admitted on Twitter (now called X) that his former fixer Michael Cohen actually did receive a “monthly retainer”—even though Trump’s attorneys have attempted to argue that Cohen was not paid back for the $130,000 hush-money payments made to porn actress Stormy Daniels. Instead, Trump’s lawyers claim Cohen was paid as an employee.

“Mr. Cohen, an attorney, received a monthly retainer, not from the campaign and having nothing to do with the campaign, from which he entered into, through reimbursement, a private contract between these two parties, known as a non-disclosure agreement or NDA,” Trump wrote at the time.

Election Hinges on Base Voters: IMHO

Both candidates have a problem with their traditional constituencies. In Trump's case, it's older voters and suburban voters, including Haley voters.

In our case, it's younger voters and minorities.

Whoever can get more of their base back, wins.

I know what the 5th amendment says

but if I'm a juror and it's one person's word against another's, isn't it natural to give more weight to the person who swears, under oath and under the penalty of perjury, than to the person who refuses to testify?

We are the final judgement for Trump

Regardless of the outcome of Trump's current trials, or if they come to a conclusion before election day, the voters of the United States hold the final judgement.

We have enough information and evidence to form that judgement. We know his character and his lawless actions. We know he's a rapist and has committed fraud. We know what the Trump team has in store with a written document known as "Project 2025".

If this ends with a Trump victory, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Even if we oppose him, we have to do all we can to defeat him. Nothing should be more important than that.

And the only way to defeat Trump is to elect Biden. There are no other choices in between and we have to be convincing advocates. That's our job to save America.

Wouldn't Melania's Reaction Also Effect the Election?

When I hear commentators say that Trump wanted to suppress the Stormy Daniels story before the election to prevent the story from costing him votes and thus the election, but others say it was to keep the story from his family, especially his wife, can't they be both? And, Trump may not have cared if Meleana knew he was screwing around if he wasn't a candidate. After all, he had a more favorable pre-nuptial before the election. So, if the story came out in October of 2016, Trump also feared that his wife leaving him a week before the election or refusing to be by his side in campaigning during the election's closing days, would mean both can be the case.

In other words, Melania finding out in 2011 doesn't matter to Trump, but October 2016 would have been politically devastating.
