My wife's been hacking away for at least three weeks. I managed to not catch it until this past weekend. It's a killer!

(3,417 posts)Cough, low fever, aches, sore throat, nausea, diarrhea, no appetite. The only things I can keep down are Tylenol and water. I'm on day 8 of torture by virus.

(23,245 posts)Our Covid tests are out of date by a few months, but still showed negative. He's got a ton of chest congestion, a lot of coughing, and an on and off lowgrade fever. He had a teladoc appt. and was given 3 rx's. He seems to be a little better today, so that's good news.
Hope I don't get it too as my oxygen gets low way too easily! I've taken zinc and Vit C for an immune system boost.

(116,137 posts)At first it was a bad cold, then it turned into pneumonia and pleurisy. It wasn't covid; it was a bacterial thing - he found out that there are a whole lot of different bacteria that can cause pneumonia. Anyhow, he wound up in the hospital and had to have surgery to clear the infection from his lungs. He's finally home now but was in and out of the hospital since early March. The doctors said there's a lot of weird shit going around.

(65,597 posts)But, winter before last I caught one and I had forgotten how bad a cold could make me feel.
Probably 6 or 7 years between colds & it was not the "no big thing" I had stuck in my head. I don't remember ever having a fever from a cold. My temperature hit 100.8° with this one. Tested negative for everything, and drainage was clear & colorless. Doctor said "Just a cold". Just? I felt rotten.
Took 2 & ½ weeks to clear, but my singing voice didn't come back for 4 months! Felt fine, but had under half my normal range. I was worried it would never come back.
