About Me

I must think of what symbol would epitomize our own weaknesses; so that's what I'll do for a bit. Idle minds, you know.

Meet Florida's newest invasive species, an ugly Amazonian river monster that can grow 10 feet long

Meet Florida’s newest invasive species, an ugly Amazonian river monster that can grow 10 feet long

Scared yet?

Then finally, in the penultimate paragraph:

How the dead arapaima got to the Caloosahatchee River remains a mystery. There’s a chance someone had it as a pet and released it into the wild.

Owning a Decrepit Shack in The Middle of Nowhere Is The New American Millennial Dream

Here's a story we've heard time and time again, and it always gets worse.
My Next Apartment Was Worse ...
My Next Apartment Was Even Worse ...
My Next Apartment Was Even, Even Worse ...
My Next Apartment Was Even, Even, Even Worse

This is a quick read, a simply stated account that we shouldn't find humor in. Years ago any among us may have know someone with a story to tell like this, and that person would have been an outlier. Now it's a way of life. And it's not a problem anymore.

These are the first of 20 coming to Collier County

I believe the plan is to add about 300k residents to Collier, nearly doubling the county's population.

Written by Senior Environmental Planning Specialist April Olson
Collier Enterprises is planning for two more villages in primary panther habitat, and they want us to pay for some of it. How can this happen, you ask? Well, it can and will happen if the Collier County Board of County Commissioners approves two new 1,000-acre villages, Longwater and Bellmar, within the Rural Lands Stewardship Area (RLSA). In addition to causing devastating impacts to the endangered panther’s last remaining habitat, the developer proposes to pass on to the County many of the costs necessary for providing the new villages with the required infrastructure and services.

Restaurant refuses party of McLaughlin and Flynn

Last week 3 out of the 11 Republican Representatives voting to remove MTG from committee assignments were from Florida. They actually took a stand for doing the right thing. Now today we read about - A conservative fundraising dinner in Naples, Florida featuring Michael Flynn, the disgraced former national security advisor pardoned by former president Donald Trump, is moving to a “secret location” after being booted from Shula’s Steakhouse in the Naples Hilton, according to its organizer.

Is it possible that SW Florida is making a turn away from the hatred and divisiveness of the past, or is this happening in other Florida communities?

The movie Yesterday (2019) - based on Beatles tunes with a twist

An unknown musician with a memory of Beatles songs awakens after an accident to a world that never had Coke, cigarettes, or the Beatles. Of course he becomes overwhelmingly popular as he plays the songs and enters the world of commercial music. As much a part of the movie are how his relationships change and he weighs the worth of happiness against career choices. It's a fun movie, and you'll love the soundtrack.

It was available at our public library.
