We are literally being erased

Removing "queer" and "transgender" from the Stonewall memorial is erasure of one of the most consequential events in our society.

Black history is a reminder of the amazing hope, perserverance, and patriotism in American History.

Immigrants and slaves built this country. Poor laborers of all diversities have died building this country.

Women literally gave birth to this country.

I watched a "right to life" rally recently and Vance said " we're going to make sure the word abortion is a term people will no longer even remember" (or close to that)

Removing us from history is denying our very existence. They don't think we are worthy of life.

They will try to rewrite our truth, just like they did to the socialist worker's movement. They made "red neck" and "socialist" contemptuous terms.

I truly believe we are living through a modern eugenics movement by the rich and powerful.

Stay strong out there and live your truth. Show them we are humans too and we deserve to exist.

I have an idea

What if we could organize a huge, muti state
Flash Dance?

Like actually get in touch with folks who do these things and do a "dance of love" nationwide.

At the end if each performance, the message
"Power to the People" (Or some better adopted phrase) and walk away without protesting. ( protests are going to be necessary but we have GOT to reach folks so we can have a meaningful, diverse turnout).

That way we 1. Go viral. 2. Simple message that resonates.

And before anyone asks, yes im on the green smoke today

Kill them with entertainment, suspense, and kindness...

Welcome to the plutocracy

A government by the wealthy and for the wealthy.

Looking outside at around 9 inches of snow

I'm loving the snow. We don't get alot of it around these parts.

It is making me miss having my kid at home.

Tried to build a snowman, but my roommate keeps knocking it over. I got her from the shelter a few months back. She's loving life right now so I'm letting her be the snowman assassin. I still miss Buddy. He was such a good boy. It's been almost a year since I lost my old friend.

My rural little community is quiet today. My grandmother and my best friend/neighbor both died last year. They were both such big personalities and made life interesting. It's just me and grandpa left to defend the fort now. I walked to his house and had coffee earlier. He's on oxygen full time. So far the electricity is on, so we're grateful for that.

The last big snow we had my kid was still at home. The electricity was out for days. It was one of the best weeks ever.

We spent the days huddled around my neighbor's wood stove. He made cornbread on it and my kid heated cans of beanie weenies. I learned the 12 bar blues on guitar cuz my friend was "tired of listening to that noise". I called him Miagi after that. RIP dear friend.

I hope you are all having a good day. Thank you for allowing me to share my nostalgia.

Giving rides from tomorrow until Election Day

I helped some folks register to vote at a plasma donation site. We get paid to give and for alot of folks, the donation allows them to eat for the week. I write about these experiences in the DU Loners Group.

Since I'm unable to contribute money to any campaign, I figure that I could give rides to vote. A very nice person gave me the gas money to do this.

I'm really hoping some of these folks call me up for a ride.

Also, today is my 16th DUversary. ....I'm old enough to drive baby!

Kindness

I wanted to share an amazing act of kindness with you all. It's not about the who or what, it's about the impression they've given.

I've been adjusting to life on a fixed income. My whole world changed when I became disabled. There have been days that were not so great, but I'm trying to come at it from a positive view.

Kindness is what has kept hope and joy alive in my heart through it all.

Kindness is the name of this amazing stranger who reminded me of the good humans. I've never heard their voice or seen their smile, but I hope that one day they will know how truly grateful I am.

Thank you. I caught the kindness bug. Currently giving it to all my DU friends.

Tag! You've been exposed! Pass it on!

Grievances vs Grief

Earlier today I watched a press conference with Amir Locke's family and other families representing loved ones murdered by the Minnesota police.

The legitimacy of their pain and protest is beyond justified. Our brothers and sisters of color are being murdered. White America. Are we listening?

On this same day, entitled white truck drivers used their children as HUMAN SHIELDS to block a bridge. The rightwing nuts at Newsmax are outright asking American truckers to do the same.

The absolute deaf arrogance and rage at mere inconveniences (masks, vax, etc) is such a glaring display of privilege.

As one of the grieving Minnesota mothers said, we need to take the cotton out of our ears and put it in our mouths.

People are being MURDERED IN THEIR SLEEP and nearly half of the population thinks those families have no right to protest and send MORE MEN WITH GUNS to "patrol" grieving communities.

And yet those gun patrolling goons think their inconvenient grievances give them the right to shut down two countries' trade and travel routes.

This is beyond maddening. My heart is with our black and brown communities. All lives don't matter....not until black lives matter.

Remembering the children of the mica mines

Original news story was on 2019. I haven't been able to find any updates. It's a horrid example of child slave labor.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/all/army-children-toil-african-mica-mines-n1082916

Forcing young children and their families to crawl into holes and tunnels, nearly starved is beyond my comprehension. If you do nothing else today, please take a moment to reflect on this. Who profits? Who is responsible? What can we do individually to end this?

Most people use products containing mica daily, without realizing what the story behind their production is. Mica is a mineral commonly found in products such as cosmetics, paints, and electronics. For most people living in the West, mica is simply something that makes these products shiny. However, extracting mica is often linked to the worst forms of child labor.

Sometimes our bones break

Forced birth is a humanitarian emergency.
Such cruelty to women and girls is overwhelmingly disgusting.

How many women who become pregnant during domestic abuse will be beaten so badly by their abusers who don't want a baby?

How many children will have to endure the extreme pain of birthing? How many will have to carry the seed of their rapists, making their trauma unimaginable?

How many will endure a broken pelvis, tailbone or sometimes even bladder/rectal damage during forced births?

Yes. Sometimes our bones break.
