Rye Whiskey

Rye Whiskey, rye whiskey,
Rye Whiskey I cry;
If I don't have rye whiskey, I think I will die...

Sound Bars - Are they useful in upgrading sound in flat screen tvs?

I see Bose sound bars (among other brands) advertised on home shopping networks for use with large flat-screen TVs.
The sound on my flat-screen TV, a hand-me-down from a family member, has never been great, and I'm wondering if a sound bar would be the answer, or at least an improvement.
I know little to nothing re technology and would need assistance with installation if a sound bar would be recommended for my situation.
They are not cheap - Bose sound system would cost about $250.00

Great that you took the genealogical tour; very meaningful.

My husband and I did a similar tour about 25 years ago, to Defiance, Ohio and Saginaw Michigan, the latter my mother's birthplace and the former my maternal grandmother's birthplace.

Both were great for getting a feel for the areas and cultures into which they were born and raised, as well as visits to churches and having dinner with an in-law still in the Saginaw area.

I am 87, born 11/1935 - hoping to reach 88 soon.

I remember when Pearl Harbor was attacked on a Sunday; my father came home from Mass into the kitchen and said "The Japs have bombed Pearl Harbor. Many memories of WWII - paper drives, scrap metal drives, saving grease in tin cans, stamps for gas, sugar, meat, shoes. Soldiers marching through downtown, my father & I watching, he with tears in his eyes. Also when a friend told me FDR was in a wheel-chair I didn't believe it. Remember FDR's death. -So much more.

PS - Check the math re our friend above. - Perhaps a typo...

I understand. I don't want to blow this opportunity to reunite.

I have not had covid & am up in years.
So many have had covid in one form or another & it has mutated so much that some, even vaccinated, are getting repeat cases.
This person is somewhat a loner - doesn't go out in crowds particularly.

My prayer was answered today; intercession of St. Rita & St. Monica

I'll sleep better tonight.
Family member has been estranged since covid vaccinations became available; called today and coming to town for several days.
May all be well as family gets together.

I have had a Facebook page for ca 12+ years.

I mainly use it for keeping contact with nieces and nephews out-of-town, about whom I'd know practically nothing of their lives without such input.

I also inform them (and anyone else who cares to see it) family history/genealogy, as I'm in effect the matriarch of our line, and this is an easy way to pass on family history and photos.
There are also certain pages/groups of interest to me, and to which I contribute bits and anecdotes; ex. local history of my neighborhood, and certain sites relating to my religion and politics.
I can block anyone or most subjects/sites if I find them annoying.

Because I'm elderly, many of my contacts have died along the way, so I still have a number of deceased ones among my "friends".
Overall, I find Facebook useful, and check it daily.

Not necessarily true re doctors not being able to release him if there is inadequate care.

I haven't experienced such my self, but read frequently that hospitals will not keep patients when they have deemed patient ready for release, and, apparently, many are sent home to be on their own.
I'm not defending such treatment, but have read of such, even here on DU, frequently.
