Nicolle Wallace On Sarah Sanders' Exit: I 'Will Not Miss Her'

Wallace giggles at the start of the clip, which I would normally say is unprofessional, but SHS deserves mockery! (And probably a prison term.)

Senate GOP races to break with Trump over accepting foreign info

Source: The Hill

BY JORDAIN CARNEY - 06/13/19 03:24 PM EDT

Senate Republicans are racing to distance themselves from President Trump's suggestion that he would accept information from a foreign government ahead of the 2020 election.

Trump's comments, which he made during an interview with ABC News, set off a political storm on Capitol Hill on Thursday, forcing Republicans to either break with Trump or remain silent amid a downpour of questions from reporters about accepting help from a foreign government.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a close ally of Trump's, called the president's comments "wrong." He said he spoke to Trump on Thursday about the ABC News interview and reiterated that he should call the FBI if a foreign government tries to offer information on an opponent.

"Basically what I just told him is … you don't need to call the FBI cause somebody says they want to help your campaign, you need to call the FBI when somebody is trying to provide something of value to you that you think is inappropriate," Graham said.

Right, Lindsey, because we all know how Donny dreads doing something inappropriate!

Trump's transgender ban has forced military members back into hiding

by Ed Pilkington in New York
Thu 13 Jun 2019 01.00 EDT

Donald Trump’s ban on transgender people serving in the US military has spread a pall of fear over the 15,000 personnel it touches and emboldened hostility towards even those on the frontline of active duty, an investigation by the Guardian has found.

The ban kicked in on 12 April and, two months into its imposition, the full chilling effects are only now becoming apparent. Under its terms, trans people seeking to enlist in the military are subject to an almost total exclusion unless they keep their gender identity hidden.

Most individuals who are already serving are similarly forced to keep their true selves tightly closeted. There are exceptions, but they are narrowly defined and hard to procure.

Last week, Trump tried to justify the ban by complaining about the high costs associated with treating military personnel for gender dysphoria, the formal diagnosis when an individual’s gender is different from the one assigned to them at birth. In fact the entire medical budget for gender transition-related care is a tenth what the armed forces spend annually on Viagra and Cialis.

I have long since stopped asking, "How low can he go?" regarding Trump: He'll go lower. A lot lower!

WaPo: Joe Biden previews the pummeling he plans to give Trump

There are two ways to bludgeon President Trump — one is to go after his character and behavior, the other is to skewer his inept and counterproductive policies. When both he and Joe Biden were in Iowa on Tuesday, the former vice president did both — quite effectively.

Trump’s biggest foreign policy campaign promise (other than backing out of the Iran nuclear deal) was to take on China and protect American workers. Biden, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination in 2020, went right after Trump’s counterproductive policy. As he does so well, Biden laid into Trump for being indifferent to the average guy. “America’s farmers have been crushed by his tariff war with China. No one knows that better than Iowa,” Biden said. “He thinks he’s being tough. Well, it’s easy to be tough when someone else is feeling the pain.” He continued, “How many farmers across this state and across this nation have had to face the prospect of losing their business, of losing their farm because of Trump’s tariffs? How many have had to stare at the ceiling at night wondering how they’re going to make it? How many sleepless nights do you think Trump has had over what he’s doing to America’s farmers?” He then answered his own question: “Just as many as he had when he stiffed the construction workers and electricians and plumbers who built his hotels and casinos. Zero.”

Biden knows that trade and China are important to the president’s base, and so he goes for the jugular, threatening Trump’s grip on rural voters. But Biden also played some defense, following an earlier comment he had made to the effect that China was no competition for the United States. “We are in a competition with China. We need to get tough with China,” Biden argued. “They are a serious challenge to us, and in some areas a real threat.”

Biden then turned Trump’s tough-guy routine into a liability. “Every single step that Donald Trump is taking is only exacerbating the challenge. While Trump is tweeting, China is making massive investments in technologies of the future. While Trump is name-calling, China is building roads, bridges, and high-speed rail. While Trump is pursuing a damaging and erratic trade war, without any real strategy, China is positioning itself to lead the world in renewable energy. While Trump is attacking our friends, China is pressing its advantage all over the world.” In other words, Trump’s unhinged, narcissistic behavior and total ignorance hurts the United States. He’s not up for the job.

There's a video attached to the op-ed, but it wasn't YouTube. Thus, I was unable to include it in the main body of the post. I did, however, find this YT vid which makes the same point:
