How does one from the Cold War era answer this?

Sometimes I'm flabbergasted no one mentions the complete 180 in the American politic body to a Pro-Russian stance Trumpism/Republicans represent, I mean what a feat to take any populace of the American system from the Cold War.... Republicans! and turn them pro Russia? Amazing if you think about it;no wonder the propaganda is strong for Putin there. Fucking weak Lilly liveried (sp) REPUBLICANS. And I mean that emphasis, I’m mad.

I just want to send general good vibes to everyone...

Hey, long time reader, seldom poster. I just want to take a minute and just remind everyone to take time and space to take care of themselves. J6 events are traumatic, dealing with what every single person reading this has dealt with for the past 2 plus years? Our brains have been assaulted with bullshit for a very long time, just realize that and if you need to get up and not watch and walk around, that’s ok. Just felt the need to type that. Be well people.

Feeling hopeful again, a bit*

I’d just like to point out that from an historical perspective, wow what a fascinating time to be alive during. Sad, unbelievable, I get lost in the emotions of COVID, Trump, it’s hard to be removed and gather your thoughts on it all. Right, so it’s not a happy “fascinating” in that, it’s so surreal, 500,000 dead. Kids in cages, etc... it does not bear repeating.

But, after past pandemics, periods of great reform usually followed, that’s where I’m feeling better. I’m thinking maybe this shit in Texas may pull some heads out of the sand on climate change. I think our arc as a species may be heading towards a more positive position? Right, I see a path forward, where ethics and morals do win out, and like we actually all take care of our physical space around us.

Posit this feeling/thought in the lounge, because frankly I don't know what to do with it.

So, I’ve been having this nagging dread feeling in my stomach over the thought of Trump getting away with “all of it.” This presidency man, I feel this whole country has been traumatized, in so many ways. But if Trump(s) gets away with no real penalty, as in he’s not convicted in the Senate. I mean is our politic body broken beyond repair? I guess I’m still just in shock and thankful the damage was not worse at the capital, but it still breaks my heart just to think of it. Really lucky not one of these meal team six guys started shooting, could have been just so much worse, which is why I find it really disheartening to think Trump might not face any penalty.

I mean other than being Trump, what a miserable person he must be, I do feel sorry for him to.

'It's every red flag,' Trump-ordered HHS ad blitz raises alarms

Source: Politico

Caputo's team in June requisitioned $300 million that Congress had previously appropriated to the CDC. According to three people with knowledge of the deliberations, the request was abrupt and HHS offered minimal detail to CDC officials on how the money would be spent for the upcoming campaign.

Conspicuous Production?

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/apr/24/new-status-symbol-hard-work-spending-ceos?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

This is the genius of conspicuous production. It not only promotes a culture of overwork, it makes our dwindling amount of leisure time economically productive. There is no escape: either we’re working for the company or we’re working on ourselves, but we’re always working. “Eight hours for work, eight hours for rest, eight hours of what we will” was the anthem of the workers who first demanded the eight-hour-day more than a century ago. Those distinctions don’t make sense any more. Even our sleep is factored into our productivity score – the entrepreneur of the self never gets to clock out.

I found this little nugget of thought over at the Gaurdian. I'm not sure if this belongs in general so forgive the misplacement, if so. But looking at the social costs/ economic impacts of the concepts in the article had me wondering, if people actually process thinking working hours in these terms? Especially in terms of persons of color/gender, how they process new conspicuous production? Anyways, just thought I'd share as a distraction from the Trump nonsense all the time, I've had about enough of that orange shitgibbon as I can stand.
