When Depression Can't Be Cured.

Just found this article:

"Depression doesn’t go away for everyone. For most people, depression is temporary and passes naturally or once the person has expressed the feelings and resolved the thoughts causing the depression. But there is a small percentage of people who can talk about their issues, express their feelings, take very good care of themselves emotionally, even take medication and have a great life, and still be depressed throughout their lives. They may have periods of feeling good, periods of feeling less bad, and periods of feeling horrible—for these people, the depression never goes away permanently.

Major depressive disorder is the medical term for repeated episodes of a very intense, deep depression that is disabling and enormously painful. People who are bipolar experience similar disabling depression during their depressive phases. Often, between episodes, people return to a functional, happy state. Sometimes people can also have a milder depression, even between episodes of major depression."

The paragraph below describes my brand of depression very well. I hadn't realized that there was a type of Major Depressive Disorder like this Atypical:

"There are also people with “atypical” depression who can be in a deep depressive episode and yet appear to come out of it long enough to laugh or enjoy something briefly before sinking back in, or can act normal for short periods. This can be confusing to both the depressed person and to other people. This isn’t an indication that the person is any less depressed or any less in danger than someone in a major depressive episode who doesn’t have those brief breaks. It’s just a different form. Atypical depression is also characterized by feeling emotionally paralyzed, physically leaden—barely able to move or engage in any activity, and often overeating, oversleeping, and experiencing sensitivity to rejection."

Who else is depressed?

Hi DU friends, I haven't been by this forum. Yeah I'm one of those people who pop in when the internals are too much.

Getting on the right meds has helped a lot...but I've been feeling real down lately.

I had planned to go out to a resistance activity today but I'm so down and it's freezing cold and grey outside. I just want to curl up and continue isolating. Which feels good until later...days or weeks later.

Obsessively reading politics probably isn't helping.

Thank you, I just needed to say it out loud.

What a difference from the March for Women's Lives, early 2000's

Sorry I can't remember the exact year. Over one million people at the March for Women's lives, yet U.S. media effectively censored it.

Now, there ain't no silencing us!

Shoot...christmas is just a nice time off work. But it's kinda lonely.

Thanksgiving was the same. New Years will be too.
I set myself up with nice munchies and movies, but the aloneness is getting to be a bummer.

Anyone else been googling "how to be alone and happy at Christmas"?

Oh! How I love Eddie Vedder....

Ah...wow, what an artist... what a master.... ❤️

I have to share--
The vid is a montage of clips of Eddie at his craziest, mostly in his early days. But the song they're arranged to is a mature reflection.
"To Transcend,
Where we are.
Who are we?
Who we are."

Just sublime......

My Shrimpy died today. June 19 (posting in GD because this is my usual forum.)

My baby girl, my little 5 pound Pom. So much more than a dog. So full of love, which she loved to share.

The story, on FB

💔Saddest news, everyone. My baby, Shrimpy, died today.

It was in the best possible circumstances, it's all very mystical...surrounded by friends who love us both, at the Buddhist meeting at my house this morning.

The meeting had just ended at about 11:15am, we chanted nam myoho rengé kyo three times to close--and suddenly she jumped off the back of the couch and landed at my feet.

My dear friend George drove us to the emergency hospital, I was doing CPR the whole way....but it was instant. She didn't suffer at all.
I'm in shock...my dear friend Luther came to the hospital and was the support I needed.

Mama loves you forever, baby 😪.
Be reborn quickly and come back to me. 👼

I'm at Luther's place where I'm with friends. Ittybitty is with me of course.

I'm not articulate when it comes to emotional stuff..... and it's still too surreal. She's my heart....what can I say?

Just woke up after crashing out of shock and exhaustion---am going to be chanting Nam Myoho Rengé Kyo for a while.
