Devices for streaming netflix to your tv
There is a discussion started about this in the Mac group as well.

I just got the Samsung bluray player in order to watch netflix on the tv. It works very well. Despite using a cell phone connection in a location that does not have very good service, the netflix movies are streaming quite well. The upfront buffering works much better than the direct stream to my computer, though the movies do generally pause 2 - 3 times for about 5 minutes during the movies.

I am finding the selection of movies on netflix pretty limited so far, but I am hopeful that will change pretty rapidly.

The salesperson at Best Buy told us that Samsung also had a contract with Hulu Plus and that is would be available after we downloaded the first update, but that is not true. It may be in the works, but it's not there yet. You can get zudu (??) and pandora, but little else is available yet.

What is everyone else using?

2. I've got 4
I have the WII, XBOX, iPhone and AppleTV - all of them work well. I prefer AppleTV's interface - but they all seem to work reasonably well.

3. Roku HD works great for us (have 2)
Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and best of all Newscaster - where I can watch the Network News, Keith and Rachel a couple of hours after broadcast! We no longer have any 'TV' service - all streaming.

7. I have Roku HD as well.
I love Newscaster (I call it yesterday's news). I also don't have cable tv, stream whenever I want to watch tv. My Roku tends to hang up (I get the "Loading" screen) about half way through Rachel or Olberman. Does this happen to you?

I also enjoy HuluPlus. BlipTV, Vimeo and RadioTime. There are so many new channels, I can't believe it. I hope they get Thom's channel Free Speech TV.

8. I got the new Apple TV for my birthday.
I'm hoping that Hulu Plus will be added at some point, but Comcast/NBC don't have a great relationship with Apple.

Like any Apple product, it was a breeze to set up and works great.

11. I got one for Christmas, and it's what I'm using to stream Netflix
It does a far better job than the TiVo HD does, with a better interface and better navigation through what you're watching.

12. Question. Now we watch most Netflix streaming and any other streaming
media on the PC. If we want to watch on the tv we hook the tv up to the PC. But since my PC is the 2nd largest and clearest screen we have I usually just watch that. Now we are kinda odd. My PC is actually on my coffee table in the LR. Comfort is not an issue. I am curious, if it is really worth it to get a Ruku Box or something like it. What benefits does it have? Just wondering what was the deciding factor for you guys. Thanks.

13. We were streaming through a computer, but we don't have one with a big screen
and the audio/volume was really problematic.

We also weren't getting high-def. We can run the pc directly into the tv, but the picture quality is not good.

The samsung device we got buffers much, much better than the computer, as well. Like I said above, it may stop a few times to buffer during the movie, but the computer would sometimes stop to buffer every few minutes.

I am really happy we switched.

:hi:
