In Four Months, Republicans Introduced 916 Bills Against Women’s Right To Choose

"It’s almost an unbelievable figure — 916. That’s the amount of legislation that has been introduced so far this year, in an attempt to regulate a woman’s reproductive system, and we’re only in April.
This information comes from a report by The Guttmacher Institute, and it finds that 49 states have contributed to this number with various bills geared towards regulating abortions and a woman’s right to choose. The report says that in 15 states, the following measures became law:"

from last paragraph of above link:

"Four months, 916 bills introduced. Sounds like a new record is about to be set. Whatever happened to Roe v. Wade? You know, the 1973 decision by the Supreme Court that gives women the right under the 14th amendment of the Constitution to have a choice? The law that has guided this issue for the last four decades."

2. Why Is This Even On DU?
Political posturing by the rupugs, meanwhile together with the corpadems they rape and pillage the working class

It's totally impossible right now besides

the Repugs are NEVER going to repeal Roe as witnessed they didn't do jack crap about it last time they held the pres and both houses.

They wouldn't have anything to run on if they repealed.

6. I support pro choice because a woman has a right to decide how her body is used but shouldn't
she also have a right to decide how her money is used?

Why not argue pro choice for taxes?

9. Progressive Reproductive Rights Defense Shuffled Into Abortion Ghetto
One of the things defenders of reproductive rights need to do is to stop playing the reactionary right's successful game of divide-and-conquer and stop allowing the reproductive rights struggle to center around abortion. Most of us who have had any experience in the reproductive rights struggle are well aware that the abortion rights struggle is just a distraction and a sideshow for social reactionaries to recruit and distract supporters AWAY from their real objective: either outlawing birth control entirely or making access to birth control devices as difficult to obtain as it is out on the Great Plains. The reactionary right routinely attacked (and still attacks) progressives for allowing themselves to be associated with people struggling for abortion access, yet progressives and the ADD knuckleheads in the corporate media continually fail to take note that many of the same activists and fund-raisers for anti-abortion organizations are also quietly (and often not-so-quietly) involved in campaigns to restrict or eliminate access to birth control.

Progressives should hammer social reactionaries not so much for being anti-abortion, but for being anti-birth control. If progressive politicos were cleverer, they'd force some of these "crisis pregnancy centers" to maintain qualified medical professionals and to provide access to reliable contraceptives.
