Last but not least, for a larger forum, there's TheFiringLine.com. They have a pretty strict rule against partisan political discussions. There's some right-wing nonsense, but it's kept well in check.

there are some fairly vocal liberals there..this was when tfl still had a fairly open political forum, now I think it is pretty non-political.

20. Yeah, they ended up shuttering the political forum--now there's no partisan discussions.

There can still be discussions of, say, how government rules work, or the odds of a given bill passing. And you still get a solid feel for where some of the people stand. But it's not allowed to go to terms of "gun grabbing Democrats" or anything like that. Most of the posters there actually tend to have more of a genuine libertarian base, although there's some right wing morons as well. And, as you say, a few people who are obviously liberals/Democrats.
