Big U.S. Firms Shift Hiring Abroad
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704821704576270783611823972.html

U.S. multinational corporations, the big brand-name companies that employ a fifth of all American workers, have been hiring abroad while cutting back at home, sharpening the debate over globalization's effect on the U.S. economy.

The companies cut their work forces in the U.S. by 2.9 million during the 2000s while increasing employment overseas by 2.4 million, new data from the U.S. Commerce Department show. That's a big switch from the 1990s, when they added jobs everywhere: 4.4 million in the U.S. and 2.7 million abroad.

In all, U.S. multinationals employed 21.1 million people at home in 2009 and 10.3 million ...

2. Most corporations don't pay any federal taxes?!?
Well...heck, then cut taxes further for the privately wealthy, we need some more jobs here in the US!!!

More gardeners, chefs, pool maintenance, nannies, maids, tutors, butlers, ect...

3. And not a word of protest
from our fucking dim bulb politicians. If they had just a sliver of brain function they would quit giving preference to multi-national corporations that do not pay taxes, demand local incentives when locating their facilities and off-shore jobs and resources. I understand that the corporations are going to do whatever they can to make a buck. But the politicians of both political parties enable them to do so at the expense of our nation and its flesh and blod citizens. A pox on their houses.

8. The politicians are so well compensated by these same companies
that there is NO WAY they're going to change the law. Look at what Obama RAN HIS CAMPAIGN on! Doing away with tax breaks for companies that shipped jobs overseas. Once he won the office, his promises went away. He answers to much stronger voices now than mere millions of votes.

6. Yeah, most of us at DU have known about this sort of thing for years.
I'm only surprised that Reaganite Murdoch's rag catches up in six years instead of 10.

It's long past time to stage sit-ins at corporate boardrooms. I would love to see the looks on the rent-a-thug's faces when hundreds just storm past them.
