"Bill O'Reilly is actually a moderate."
A friend told me that a while ago and I was shocked. You know your network has gone nuts when papa bear is your moderate voice of reason. Maybe compared to Beck, Hannity, and Coulter, he is moderate, but overall I think he is very conservative and he has even described himself as a Traditionalist. Am I wrong on this one, is Bill really a moderate?

1. The right is the new center, thanks to the RW framing of everything which has taken hold

4. If the right is moving right wingers into the "moderate" category, they are planning
on shifting all politics to the right, one more time. That means Boehner is a moderate. By astroturfing the tea baggers the koch brothers have warped US politics one more time.

He's not calling for bible study classes in public schools and shit like that.

I think he's on the moderate side personally. But I live in a rightwing hell.

8. No. He has labeled himself a self-styled "independent" from day one, but his views are always
conservative. He gets seen as moderate only in comparison to the truly extreme assclowns. For example last Tuesday he did a short segment "Obama: Fact vs. Myth" and shot down a lot of the garbage that gets thrown around about the first family like "Michelle Obama lost her law license", "Michelle has more staff than previous first ladies," and he even did a half-hearted debunking of the birther crap:

“We’re going to put this to bed tonight. He does have a legitimate birth certificate. The state of Hawaii says they have it. And we have no reason not to believe that.”

So, sadly, there are folks out there to whom this passes as 'moderate', but in terms of his actual views on the issues, no, O'Reilly is not moderate. And it's pretty damn sad that the RW noise machine has gotten so ridiculous and extreme that he is now the voice of reason among them. In the early Bush years, we all thought of him the way we see Beck now...they have really cranked it to 11 in the intervening years.

9. Yes, he's clearly a conservative though he claims otherwise. He's also a total dickhead
and an ass who treats his staff like crap (judging from his ridiculous overreaction during the whole "We'll do it live" debacle when he was Entertainment Tonight or whatever show it was -- that bit is hilarious, and it is also very sad).

10. That is correct. His views fall somewhere between the most conservative
Republican and the most conservative Independent. Ah, moderation. :)
