We Can't Afford Both ::: Security
We have two very large and very expensive government programs dealing with security.

One is Social Security whereby health of the people is paramount.

The other is National Security.

We can no longer afford both in their present expenditures.
We need to choose which Security we can live with and cast aside the other, or at least whittle away at one and keep the other going strong.

This is the financial question of the century. I know which security I choose. How about you?

3. Cut the military budget in half and end tax cuts for the rich.
That is the real path to security.

4. How in the world can USA be "competitive" in the global economy ...?
...when it throws so much of its GNP into a black hole mis-named "Defense" (AKA "endless Imperial wars")?

I think this is what is called a lose/lose proposition.

6. Numerous studies have shown "defense" spending to be "dead-end" spending
i.e. "investment" into weaponry and military institutions creates nothing but death and destruction, which is actually worse than doing nothing.

i.e. if US invests nothing in the military, imagine the amount of resources we've still have sitting in the US Treasury. Bye-bye deficit.

are you not familiar with said studies?

7. Bring our troops home.
Cut the defense budget in half. Raise taxes on the wealthiest 1%. Leave Social Security alone.
