Women's bodies are not YOURS to control MF's!
Edited on Fri Apr-08-11 08:43 PM by Ripley
And by MF's I mean every damned male and female in a position of power in the government and churches who think they can force all women to produce babies because they had sex. Let's use real language, not "ladies parts" and uterophobia, you ignorant foolish bottom-of-the-human-evolution-chain organized freakshow people.

NOTHING is more sacred than the control of one's own physical body.

And NO other person has the right to control my body.

Stop treating women as objects in your political games and religious stories.

Barr stated he didn't make his wife get an abortion, however he literally wrote the check for it.
At the time Barr was conducting his own affair.

11. These fuckheads know nothing about medical ethics.
The overriding principle in medical ethics is autonomy. Which means:

Your body is yours to control.

Privacy is paramount.

You make decisions about what treatments you want and those you refuse.

PERIOD.

18. All they were doing was trying to take away affordable contraception and health care for
stds, HIV tests, PAP smears. Have you any idea how many women depend on PP for their female health care? How many would end up further in poverty if they were unable to control when or if they got pregnant and had to deal with the economics of having a baby?

Dramatic? Hardly.

You are a parasite if you get an std check that you don't pay for yourself. Or if you get a PAP smear. Or if you get a contraceptive prescription. Unless you have insurance that you totally pay for and even then you are a parasite since you aren't being self reliant.

What if you go to a public school, or drive on a public road, or call the fire department if you have a fire? Do you grow all your own food? Have your own electric company? Did you make your own computer?

THIS is the best you can do with a first post?

25. I agree with you here. What I found dramatic were some of your allegations.
"who think they can force all women to produce babies because they had sex" and "And NO other person has the right to control my body."

I find those statements to be over-the-top and rather fallacious. Hence, dramatic.

While Planned Parenthood provides a myriad of good services, the attempt to de-fund them is not that same thing as over turning Wade v Roe. You are certainly not being forced to have a child when you don't want to and no one was trying to control your body.

37. If you cannot afford $50-100/month for birth control pills because PP was defunded, yes they are.
If you cannot afford reliable contraception because the place you got it from is no longer in business, yes, they are trying to control your body. If you cannot afford an STD or HIV test because PP is defunded, they are trying to control your body. If you cannot afford a PAP smear to test for cervical cancer because PP is defunded, they are trying to control your body.

These services are available at affordable rates for most women AND men. By defunding the, this puts much of this out of the reach of many.

How is this not trying to control your body?

38. This is where we disagree and where I find you and the OP to be dramatic
Saying that you are being forced against your will and controlled because an institution that promotes safe sex policies didn't receive funding is hyperbolic.

Then to link that to being forced to have an child is a jump that Evel Knievel wouldn't make.

41. Let's try this another way, another example. Pretend you are an insulin dependent diabetic
Insulin and supplies cost you $50/month, is partially subsidized by the government since few people could afford the $500/month the insulin and supply makers charge. Funding is cut for this program. Would you feel controlled? Would you feel forced against your will? Why or why not?

35. Just saw a story on 20/20 on April 8
having to do with the mental and physical abuse of girls and women as members a church cult. I, as a man, was horrified, and can't fathom how men, and moreover religious leaders, get away with this shit.

Elizabeth Vargas’ Yearlong Investigation Into The Independent Fundamental Baptist Church, Airs On “20/20,” Friday, April 8, 10-11 PM ET

Try to imagine the pain and humiliation of a teenage girl, just 16 years old, who says she was forced to stand in front of a New Hampshire church congregation and confess her "sin" of being pregnant. She says not only was she forced to confess her pregnancy, but also to ask for their forgiveness – with no mention of the man she says sexually abused her. After all, she says, the pastor told her it's better than being stoned to death as the bible describes. That is what Tina Anderson alleged happened to her at her ultra conservative Independent Fundamental Baptist, or IFB, Church. The IFB has thousands of congregations across the country, but many people have never heard of it. That was, until another woman, Jocelyn Zichterman, began a public campaign – armed with nothing but a computer and memories of her own alleged abuse that she says church beliefs can foster. And survivors are now coming out of the woodwork, to say she's not alone.

40. Your body, your choice. From abortion to where you smoke/drink, seat belts, helmets, etc
I am now, and have been, truly on the side of pro-choice people and the freedom to have control over your own body.

I don't want any MF's telling me what to do either - but that is gonna cost you as folks are going to call you, as they have me, a libertarian for not being in favor of the few in government dictating your choices.

42. I'm gonna have to disagree with you when it comes to
where you smoke and drink. Smoking can cause a myriad of physical issues for others nearby in public places, and secondhand smoke is a known health issue. And if you drink in your car while driving or choose to drink and drive, you are seriously endangering the lives of others on the road with you. No one is an island and no one lives in a vacuum. Your right to control your body ends when it affects the health and lives of others.

Now, that doesn't apply to abortion, as it doesn't affect anyone else except the woman making the decision. Same for wearing of helmets and similar situations.

44. And some would say - abortion stops a beating heart, one that has no choice
At least with adults you can choose (unless someone has a gun to your head) where to drink and smoke.

And I am not talking about hospitals, etc here, I am talking about bars - a place no one NEEDS to go but choose to do so.

Speaking of endangering others, cars and their exhaust do a fine job of that, but I don't see people stopping driving over worries about how their habit is hurting others.

That and the gay agenda and illegal aliens taking all the jobs.

They've lost the gay agenda, at least for a while so they're doubling down on abortion. Soon we'll be hearing about the illegal aliens taking all the jobs that could go the homeless and the unemployed.
