'Kill Team' Brigade commander given wrist slap
Source: Washington Times

The investigation into those responsible for the Afghanistan "kill team" tactics led to "a letter of admonition" of Col. Harry D. Tunnell IV, reports the Military Times on Tuesday.
...
Tunnell’s superiors in Afghanistan lost confidence in him after he threw out the playbook and butted heads with commanders, derisively rejecting capacity-building counterinsurgency doctrine in favor of a “counter-guerilla” strategy that concentrated in engaging and destroying the enemy.

Der Spiegel found statements in the Army report saying that Tunnell was out for revenge "on a personal crusade" as a result of being shot in the leg in Iraq. MT quotes a soldier who described Tunnell:

"One soldier said of a talk by Tunnell, “If I were to paraphrase the speech and my impressions about the speech in a single sentence, the phrase would be: ‘Let’s kill those motherfuckers.’”

1. Every "excess" our military commits, and every lenient punishment doled out,
puts the average soldier in greater peril. Even those who couldn't care less about dead Iraqi or Afghani civilians should realize this, and take it into consideration. Just saying...

2. Have they ever found anyone above the rank of Lt.
responsible for any of our country's war crimes?

3. Not really aware of any
Capt. Ernest Medina was convicted of war crimes following the Mai Lai massacre in Vietnam, but was later acquitted of all charges.

After Abu Ghraib, Colonel Thomas Pappas was relieved of command and fined $8000, but that's about it. Practically a slap on the wrist.

4. What's New..My attitude
I was there same thing take 18 to 25 year old testosterone, give us some great killing tool.. M14,M16 scare us.
Tell us everything we do is for freedom and don't be a coward... well we are coward's ("us the killers")
the hero's were the objectors I wasn't brave enough to not carry a weapon.

We called the enemy something like gook, Noodle sucker, V.C.
Was I old enough to know better...Kind of.. but everyone was doing it.
Waste the Mother F#$%ker better safe than sorry right..?

Something seemed wrong.. but it must be ok.. the officers saw it..so...

Now I am disgusted with what is going on in the name of freedom
Pure murder for money (the war machine) in the name good Americans

Look here one captain 41/2 months for Calley.. over 350 civilians proud to be retired vet..

I don't tell anyone myself..
When someone ask were you in Vet Nam.
You kind of wonder if they know.

If they are Asian they often do.
I know they know. If they are from Vietnam, they do know. most will forgive you.

Army KillersLook at this.

I am trying to be a good human now.. doing the best I can to stop the killing.

War what is it good for? "The top 400 family's that benefit from the little tax slaves(That you and me pal).
You tell me how you explain to St.Peter how you don't or didn't resist paying taxes that are used to kill other people.
I haven't figured that one out yet, in fact I haven't even figured out how to explain my own 1969-1971 behavior.

Thanks
