Tea Party's historian, David Barton, gives thumbs up to theocratic ideology of dominionism
Green: So it's the same idea, saying "look, every single area of the culture you need to be involved in."

Barton: That's right. Christians got to get involved. And there's a Scripture they used that came out of Isiah 2:2 and it says "Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established on the top of the mountains," so this is now called the Seven Mountain Prophecy, there's a book out by that name.

It says the Lord's house is going to be established on top of the mountains and these are the seven mountains. If you're going to establish God's kingdom, you've got to have these seven mountains and again that's family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business and government.

Now that's what we believed all along is you got to get involved in this stuff. Jesus said "you occupy 'til I come." We don't care when he comes, that's up to him. What we're supposed to do is take the culture in the meantime and you got to get involved in these seven areas.

Seven Mountains dominionism seeks to place Christians in control over the seven forces that shape and control our culture: (1) Business; (2) Government; (3) Media; (4) Arts and Entertainment; (5) Education; (6) Family; and (7) Religion. The reason for this, as Lance Wallnau, the leading advocate for Seven Mountains theology, explained is that Jesus "doesn't come back until He's accomplished the dominion of nations." And the way "dominion of nations" is accomplished is by having Christians gain control of these "seven mountains" in order to install a "virtual theocracy" overseen by "true apostles" who will fight Satan and his Antichrist agenda.

1. Those Dominionists are bad news.
Types legitimizing the teachings not of Christ, but of the Fourth Reich.

Thanks for the heads-up, ck4829. Seven mountains under the throne of Ralph Reed and Karl Rove.

5. Octofish - there is dispute about this among Xtians.
Yes, the Dominionists are dangerous and manipulative as they even twist scripture to their own
means:

For example, there is and has been MUCH debate over what constitutes the 7 mountains / hills:

Unlike, many DU'ers I don't see religion as either intrinsically good or bad - it is however a force that
secular societies ignore at their peril.

9. Thank you for the heads-up, ironrooster.
I'm Roman Catholic and I also follow the Tao and the teachings of every philosopher, sage, prophet, saint and nobody I can find. What they ALL have in common is the Golden Rule: Treat others as one would like one's self to be treated.

What I've seen happen in this country is the initialization of a new Golden Rule: He who has the gold, makes the rules. For details:

Know your BFEE: Forget Rev. Wright! It’s Bush and His Cronies Who Owe an Apology for Rev. Moon!

Most importantly: A hearty welcome to DU! Really dig the moniker!

2. People like this make me sick to my stomach. They presume
to absolutely KNOW what the bible meant in every instance.

3. Ah, yes, another "Christian" who finds his true inspiration in the Old Testament.
It must drive them crazy that so much of what is attributed directly to Jesus in the four gospels is, well, quite socialist.

And I'd really like to know what translation he's using that has Jesus saying "You occupy". I've never heard that before.

4. Dominionists are dangerous. The head of the old Blackwater
organization was a staunch Dominionist. Blackwater was well on its way to being the army of the movement. Fortunately, excesses ended those dreams, but there's still a desire among the Dominionists to establish an armed force. Many dominionists are part of the militia movement, as well. It's something that should sound the alarm for all of us. They don't like us very much at all.

7. Have you ever met a fundamentalist who wants smaller government?
They almost always want a nanny state where the government enforces their "morals" on all people.

8. And this is who Huckabee wants us to listen to at gunpoint
http://thinkprogress.org/2011/03/31/mike-huckabee-david-barton/

HUCKABEE: I don’t know anyone in America who is a more effective communicator I just wish that every single young person in America would be able to be under his tutelage and understand something about who we really are as a nation. I almost wish that there would be something like a simultaneous telecast and all Americans would be forced, forced — at gun point no less — to listen to every David Barton message. And I think our country would be better for it. I wish it’d happen.

10. Is this the earnest little historian on Glen Beck?
Disappointing if it is.

I just thought he was a nut ball teabagger, not also a fascist fundamentalist.
