Krugman- Diminished Individualism Watch
A few weeks back I commented on a George Will column in which he said that

the real reason for progressives’ passion for trains is their goal of diminishing Americans’ individualism in order to make them more amenable to collectivism.

So I think that it is my civic duty to report that yesterday, as I got off Amtrak 161 from Trenton to Washington — having spent 2 1/2 hours being made more amenable to collectivism, not to mention finishing another chapter for 3rd edition — I saw George Will leaving the business class car. (I usually prefer the coach quiet car.)

1. After moving to the East Coast and seeing how beneficial the train
system was to EVERYONE, I started to think why we don't use it more.

All of the RW assholes on the freeway who wouldn't take a train to save their life owe a huge thank you to the train system and the ones who use it. If it wasn't for those riding the trains they would have to spend much more money in taxes to build more roads. Also the roads they were on would be much busier (and slower) than they already are.

So the RW assholes who hate using trains should actually love that they are there and support them. For totally individualistic reasons they should be pro-train.

Now if the real reason was individualism then that would be the case. However, the real reason they hate trains is that it doesn't increase profits for big oil or big auto's. Which is the real motivation behind everything the real RW in this country does. Individualism is just a smoke screen to the truth.

3. Key words are "beneficial... to everyone".
Being beneficial to everyone is un-American. EVerything - from objects to substances to discourse to abstract entities - must be beneficial ONLY to the Worthy, or Nordic Baby Jesus cries.
