1. One of them just settled in, gently, over the remaining (what looks like) two eggs
and the two little hatchlings. I saw the new one move a little before Mom (or was it Dad?) nestled in on top of them.

6. I'm just blown away by this!
What really excited me was when either Mom or Dad was stepping around the rim of the nest and you could see one little gray hatchling moving around and raising its head, but the other one was just a little gray unmoving lump - but then one of the parents nudged it a little, I think with a scrap of food, and it started moving around and it looked up. FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is REALLY THRILLING!!!!

I can't stop watching either. Even when I do, I go back. I'm keeping the tab open there.

8. Doesn't it just blow your mind when all of a sudden it moves?
The eagle sitting in the nest will be very still for awhile, and then all of a sudden it'll move or it'll look around - hell, even if it just blinks - I Am ENTHRALLED!!!!

27. I just saw - evidently - Mom come back to the nest. Dad got up and made room,
Mom settled in. The stray chick was corralled a little bit (although last I saw, it was back out looking around a little. At one point, Dad had sat down and the chick was under his tail. Then Dad took off and Mom settled in. She's turned a little - now she's facing where the stray chick is, and she's working the nest a little - maybe to make a better spot for the chick?

AMAZING!

14. Yeah I know how that is, because while I'm online I'm also checking AOL radio
Edited on Sun Apr-03-11 03:07 PM by calimary
in the New Alternative First channel. Every so often my son's band, ACIDIC, is on there with "The Big Bang," and I have to vote it up.

http://player.radio.com/player/AOLPlayer.php (shameless plug)!

So I'm switching back and forth.

Multitasking I guess. But I love watching the eagles!!! I'm checking back on them multiple times a day.

I almost had sympathy pains when she was laying that first egg.

Well, not really. But she was pretty darned intense.

17. Watching that first 24 hours collage, it occurs to me how much work
it is for that little guy/gal just to break out of that egg. You just think of it as they "hatch", but that took a tremendous amount of energy to get there. Kudos to that little bugger.

28. Why is that one baby on the outside of the nest?
I can't watch! This is too scary. And I already have figured that they will not be raising all 3 if they hatch. I can't stand it.

37. Here's another one from Iowa...
at the Alcoa plant in Bettendorf. The plant is right on the Mississippi, so the eagles won't lack for food. I grew up less than a mile from the Alcoa plant; I can't recall seeing too many eagles when I was growing up in the 70s, so it's good to see they've made a comeback.

39. Now from what I can tell, both parents have come and one is now gone off again,
and there's tons of food there. I see a fresh kill of a fairly large black bird, a fish, and probably the lower half of the rabbit. For a moment I first feared that the dead bird was the other eagle, until the camera widened out and I saw the other eagle on the nest, very much alive.

This is mind-blowing!!!!
