DU quoted in BLOOMBERG.com posting about buying dry milk due to radiation!
Consumers are posting concerns on websites such as democraticunderground.com, which said it was founded to protest the Bush administration. An anonymous March 30 post urged people to buy dry milk because of radiation in Washington state.

See the bottom of the article:

1. Good grief. I'd trust PSR before an anonymous internet forum poster.

2. They gave a clickable link on the site so we might have some curious visitors soon
Yes, really strange about the choices there but there you have it, forums matter to the media apparently.

3. What an utterly odd thing to add to a story--it just doesn't look like it belongs in the article
Kind of tacked on at the end.

Huh.

4. Do we have a mole at Bloomberg.com who is a secret DU addict?
Or is it a wacko from Godlike Productions who wants to make their site look more legit.

Either way it generates web traffic.

8. Who knows how this radiation situation will shake out...
...but one thing is for sure--we have been burned before by our government and the
corporations when it comes to public safety.

We all know that big dollars are at stake here for the big energy companies, some of
the most powerful companies in this country and the world.

Is it ludicrous or outrageous to assert that these companies might try to downplay
the detrimental effects of the radiation that is in the milk? Really?

Look at what we were told about Corexit. Oh, it's safe. The fish love it! We
were also told not to worry about the oil gushing, because algae would gobble it
up. Problem solved! And while certain algae do consume oil, they don't swallow
thousands of gallons a week! The things we were told during the BP disaster
were ridiculous lies. Look at all of the sick people coming forward.

It is rational and normal to wonder what we should do. We have children. I have children!
We are all concerned.

And there is a difference between RADIATION EXPOSURE (when you are exposed to radiation from
everyday situations, such as airline flights or microwaves) and INGESTING RADIOACTIVE IODINE
by drinking tainted milk! For the media to suggest otherwise is preposterous! Similar to
what BP said about the oil being no big deal for the sea life.

Corporate America will always protect profits over the health and well being of U.S. citizens.
It is not only logical to ask questions about the milk supply being safe--it's just good common
sense.

11. DITTO what CoffeeCat said!
I refuse to consume anymore radiation than what I am exposed to just living life. Why the heck would I? And I'm certainly not letting my son drink it or eat it...if I can help it!

9. I've decided there's just far too many people writing "articles."
When you have to quote things that you see on message boards, you probably don't have much to say to begin with.

10. It was a locked thread from last night
And the mention of buying milk was part of an earlier ongoing discussion. Stocking up on milk when there's concern about radiation levels is panic mongering apparently. Being prepared for emergencies is foolish.

I guess I'm just a paranoid dummy for having an earthquake kit prepared.
