Government tank and artillery fire forces opposition fighters to abandon ground won since Nato air strikes began

Troops loyal to the Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, have retaken Brega, forcing rebel fighters into a chaotic retreat under a barrage of tank and artillery fire to their stronghold of Benghazi.

With Gaddafi's forces advancing on the town of Ajdabiya, rebels are fleeing back to the position they held before Nato air strikes began, on Saturday.

Nato planes continued to bombard the regime troops, but their outgunned opponents were forced back from positions taken earlier in the week, when they advanced to within 60 miles of Sirte, Gaddafi's home city.

3. Obama has painted himself into a corner on this thing. They mistakenly
assumed too many things would fall their way, probably on the bad advice of the CIA. This has gone on long enough so that a lot of questions have been asked that they don't have answers to. They no longer have any basis to send in the marines. They'll have to begin to pretend that this whole thing never happened.
