I'd have never heard of this had my rightie sister not sent this link to me. Righties are all atwitter about it. What do you DUers think about this?

I've listened to this, and it does seem somewhat like one guy talkin' out his butt. However the opposition seems extremely eager to paint this as a progressive plan.

When the S hits the fan, this is the kind of thing that will give blaming progressives credibility...

It's all they know. So far our economic woes are the fault of:

immigrants
teachers
unions
abortions (there'd be millions more workers paying into social security today if there were no abortions!)

I'm sure they'd love to add in the broad sweeping term 'progressives'

Next they'll ask their followers to arm themselves and attack their assumed progressive neighbors...o wait...

Whatever the right is screaming about the loudest is what they themselves plan on doing.

One of their oldest ploys is to cause a smokescreen to take attention away from their own actions.

See their attacks on Acorn while the Koch's were funding the 08 election for the right as an example.

6. I agree with your sentiments

Its all about the big lie. Another example of their successful use of this tactic, painting Bush as a war hero vs the cowardly draft dodging John Kerry. They're masters at it. Thats why this kind of thing makes me nervous that it isn't being adequately rebutted. I read several liberal sites every day and consider myself well informed and I never saw this until my sister sent it to me. I'd imagine this is a first time many of you have seen it... This needs rebuttal.

I won't click on a Beck link, but if it IS what I'm thinking it is my question would be why not? What some people don't seem to get it that THEY'VE STOLEN FROM US FOR YEARS. And now they want US to pay for their fuck ups.

IF even 500,000 people didn't pay their mortgage one month, it would bring them to their knees. And I'm all for it.

9. Yeah well there's the thing...

I know that we don't need to do a damn thing to collapse the system. An understanding of the trends and current situation leads to me to see that in time logically as an absolute certainty. I'm as angry about the situation as anyone. I'd love to burn down several of the worst offenders on Wall Street! It just seems this kind of thing gives the opposition ammunition, and that is what I find somewhat annoying.

They're going to make shit up anyway.

However, here's what I don't like about it. It's not tied to any other actions. Something like this needs to be tied to a general strike and MASSIVE street demonstrations ESPECIALLY at the HQs of these big banks AND Faux Noise HQ. Shut them down, financially AND physically.

I suspect that this guy was just thinking out loud. Hell, I posted something VERY similiar to this idea over a year ago in one of my first posts on DU, so it's not like it's his idea exclusively.

I would support this if Wisconsin went out on a general strike, followed by the other midwest states that are affected by Republican tyranny. Then the idea of a mortgage strike (I would extend it to big bank credit cards too) would be to ASSIST the strikers. It could work by itself, but it would work MUCH better as part of an overall strategy.
