Chicago billboard depicting Obama: "Every 21 minutes our next possible leader is aborted"
Edited on Mon Mar-28-11 02:04 PM by alp227

(h/t: Right Wing Watch, a project of People for the American Way)

Seriously? When they run out of feeble misinterpretations of science (such as fetal pain, a fetus is a living person, etc.) the anti-abortionists must resort to the same old "you aborted a great human being" emotional appeal BS. The same tactic that Focus on the Family used with that Super Bowl ad with Tim Tebow.

On the other hand, do you really think that the people behind this billboard would support a leader like Obama? And they don't realize that a good leader comes from good parenting and education...speaking of which I wonder if these people have a problem with the unequal distribution of funding in the American education system not to mention the slew of other problems.

The RWW blog links to an article by Public Eye magazine, Abortion as "Black Genocide", dismantling this empty scare tactic.

To my fellow DUers in Chicago, I'm sorry that some morons had to foist this crap in your face. There's a Chicago Bulls game tonight, though.

1. Reminds me of that meat ad here on DU. Guess both have truths folks don't like
but folks like to complain about seeing... :)

2. Larry King's classic response to an overwrought anti
who was ranting about "Martin Luther King's mom could have had an abortion!":

"So could Hitler's."

3. Somebody should have one across the street with " Every 21 minutes, our next possible
Mass Murderer is Aborted" with maybe Ted Bundy's picture.

Every 21 minutes the next possible Hitler or John Wayne Gasey or wife beater or person who cut you off on the highway is aborted.

That's not the point and they know it.

P.S., I guess I should have read the other responses before posting.

6. "Every 21 minutes, the next possible Hitler is prevented from killing 12 million more people."

Of course, I think of abortion in these terms, but these idiots do.

13. The flip side of the coin.
Of course, if abortion were outlawed, more genocidal maniacs would be needed to keep population in control.

7. Actually...
...an unwanted child, especially born to a poor single mother, has a greater probability of turning out badly than a wanted child born into a stable family.

I once read a book about statistics which posited that a demonstrable drop in national crime could be statistically linked to the Roe decision. Crime happened to fall nationally about the same time post-Roe adolescents were entering into the "unstable years" where many teens/young adults are at the ages that are most prone to law breaking.

An interesting hypothesis...

9. I don't think so. An aborted embryo just wasn't meant to be
Or if so, it will be back either with the same mom or someone else. All of our destinies are predetermined. Nobody who is meant to be here can be stopped from being here.

10. Wait . . . what?
Are they saying that Obama will be president for the next 35 years? I realize the billboard isn't designed to make sense but rather to appeal to a very primitive part of the brain, but :wtf:

And, considering what a stellar job we're currently doing of feeding, clothing and housing the 7 billion people already massed on the planet, I don't think further explosion of the population is really what's needed. If we don't get a handle on our population voluntarily (and that right quick), something else will.

11. I love this line. I always mention that perhaps the antichrist was aborted.
That always fires them up! LOL

12. And, about 300 million potential Beethovens are lost in every wet dream.
The sheets are littered with Beethovens, Picassos, and Tiny Tims.
