Notice how few of them hold any clue to their core business/activities in the company name? Probably only half a dozen.

The others are all anonymous, mysterious sounding entities. Put your trust in International American Products! Faceless, depersonalised monsters; probably tweaks the shareholders' consciences less.

8. While there's some truth in this list, it's mostly bullshit.

And I say this based on the following premises:

1) The Iraq war should never have been fought.
2) By definition, anyone who participated -- down to the most junior enlisted person drawing his/her pay -- is a war profiteer.
3) This list is made up of the companies that (more or less) got the largest contracts in Iraq.
4) It is, consequently, apropos of nothing.

There are some wicked companies on this list and some perfectly honorable ones. The annotations are an incredible mishmash of company PR, rightist and leftist propaganda, lies and speculation, fantasy, and a grain of truth here and there.

We do ourselves no good if we squander our credibility -- even with each other -- with such crappy, hysterical nonsense.

Leave that low-rent type of commentating to Fux News.

12. I'd make a distinction between "war profiteer" -- since the list you quoted . . .

cast a ridiculously wide net, and "war criminal," which is an entirely different thing.

If it seemed to you that I was conflating soldiers as war profiteers and soldiers as war criminals, I apoligise.
