8. Because we let it.
"In these sentiments, Sir, I agree to this Constitution with all its faults, if they are such; because I think a general Government necessary for us, and there is no form of Government but what may be a blessing to the people if well administered, and believe farther that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in Despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic Government, being incapable of any other."

the person next to you. Money at any cost. Now does this sound F'ed up or what. It's a system wherein the final result will be greed and corruption if not kept under very strict regulation. It's obsolete.

20. The rich, powerful and those in control are
unwilling any longer to have even one dirty little crumb fall from their over filled plates to the unwashed rabble. In olden days just to keep the masses quiet and out of trouble they would toss them a few dirty crumbs, not any longer. They resent even the most miniscule amount that doesn't go into their greedy mouths and they get away with it too, sadly.

In these circumstances, and smarting as I was under the recollection of recent defeat, it is not strange that I thought I detected the old political ruse of dressing the wolf in sheep's clothing, of using handsome pledges as a mask to deceive the gullible, and that I assumed that this scholarly amateur in politics was being used for their own purposes by masters and veterans in the old game of thimblerig.

GOP going full steam ahead with their attempts to increase the misery index and discourage Democratic voters for 2012.

They knew we had too many old fashioned "New Democrats" who would pretend the GOP was still reasonable even after they crashed our economy and took full advantage. Got the New Democrats to deny a desperate population the Medicare for All that other countries have, and to weaken the stimulus programs and even extend tax cuts on the richest whose income had already soared for decades.

It worked in 2010-- the GOP got to slip in their GOP governors swat team to amp up the misery still further.

79. Because there's a battle...
And no one knows what it's for or how it will end. All we know is we we were born into the battlefield, nothing in hand, and given crumbs until death. If we work really hard and persevere then maybe one day we'll run the crumb factory, but now the crumb factory is full of poison, surrounded by even more lethal substances. Don't breathe the air, just contribute to the war, and cross your fingers the banks and insurance companies won't write you off as collateral.
