Greg Mitchell of the Nation Twitted:

John McCain in same meeting w/ Gaddafi in 2009 promised to work for more military help and equipment for him. http://bit.ly/eTGuWF

Joe Lieberman in meeting with Gaddafi in 2009 called Libya "an important ally in the war on terrorism."

and J. Scahill tweeted John McCain's Tweet about Gaddafi in 2009:

Late evening with Col. Qadhafi at his "ranch" in Libya - interesting meeting with an interesting man.

5. Were they wrong?
Was Libya an ally of US law enforcement efforts, or was it not?

Maybe we should organize around ideas and causes instead of people.

7. "White man speaks with FORKED TONGUE." Western powers will do whatever
serves their interests. Right now the French and British are competing for the best of future deals in a post-Gaddafi Libya. They are desperate to get rid of him at this point, having supported the rebels as soon as they thought the were winning.

8. Libyan officer training at US Command, Staff, and War colleges as some of the best programs
“Senator McCain assured Muatassim that the United States wanted to provide Libya with the equipment it needs for its TRIPOLI 00000677 002.2 OF 002 security. He stated that he understood Libya’s requests regarding the rehabilitation of its eight C130s (ref D) and pledged to see what he could do to move things forward in Congress. He encouraged Muatassim to keep in mind the long-term perspective of bilateral security engagement and to remember that small obstacles will emerge from time to time that can be overcome. He described the bilateral military relationship as strong and pointed to Libyan officer training at US Command, Staff, and War colleges as some of the best programs for Libyan military participation.”
