1. Lugar is up for re-election
he wants those teabagger votes.

2. What hypocrisy, exactly?

I expected better of him but, as others have pointed out, he is going up against the Tea Party for re-election next year, so all bets are off.

3. The US has always been hypocritical about where we intervene.
For example we are saying that we are in Libya because of humanitarian reasons, but Darfur, didn't touch it. Dozens of examples similar to that.

7. Or at the very least, inconsistent
As for Darfur, it's hard to say what a President Gore/Kerry/Obama might've done about it though Bushco seemed more focused on fighting "terrorists" in some third-world countries than saving terrorized citizens from genocide in others.

10. Yes, hypocrasy -- but the hypocrasy was not intervening in Darfur.
In Libya, the truly hypocritical thing would be to sit back and let Gaddhafi's murderers win, so as to get the oil flowing again.

4. Are you implying President Obama would put troops in harm's way in order to score political points?

5. No, not at all (light years from it)

I was just wondering why Lugar was accusing Obama of hypocrisy (rich, esp. coming from a Republican).
