Boehner Violates Promise to Make Bills Public for 72 Hours before Consideration

In rushing through legislation that cut off funding to National Public Radio (NPR), House Speaker John Boehner has violated his own pledge to give the public at least three days to review a bill before taking it up.

On Tuesday, legislation was introduced that prevented the Corporation for Public Broadcasting from financing NPR operations. By Thursday, a little more than 48 hours later, House Republicans voted on the plan and approved it without any Democratic votes.

Earlier this year, however, Boehner publicly pledged that the House would wait at least 72 hours before considering any piece of legislation, to give the public time to learn about it and provide input.

2. No one really expected him to to be any kind of honest, did they?
He is a Republican after all, therefore he believes rules are for other people.

4. Of course he lied
The question is, will any of our fearless muckrakers in the popular media notice, and if they do, will they care? Or is the 72 hour proposal just so 2009, the idea that all those promises made in the face of the "spontaneous" "grass roots" Tea Bagger movement were meant to fade like snow on a summer's day?

6. He knows his supporters do not care if he lies. In fact, they love it.
The right wing has no problem with lying.

And they have no problem having their leaders lie so long as the lie is told to get something they want.

I think the right loves it when their leaders lie in this way ... it is as if they "tricked their enemies." It demonstrates to them just how "dedicated" he is to their cause.
