16. It was by far the best rally I have ever attended

Not that I go to that many of them...



A Union rally near a College town seems to have the makings for a party.

Nurses, Teachers and college girls all over the place. O.K. there were guys there too, but the percentages were very different than the HCR rallies I attended a couple years ago.

Anyways, the atmosphere was almost party like. When there were breaks between speakers the drum circle got going out in the middle of the lawn area. Then there were the areas set up by each of the separate unions. While I was waiting in line at the hot dog stand, one of the UAW guys invited me over into their area for free hot dogs and pop (I was carrying a very pro union sign). The Nurses had a truck with a stereo playing and a big cutout of Snyder. They even had a couple guys pretending to be the Koch Brothers doing a bit of comedy. There was also a group of students parading around carrying signs and chanting slogans. I counted about 55 of them on one circuit.

People were constantly milling around from one little group to the next to make small talk and chat a while. The social interaction was very much like some type of mixer where everyone was just trying to get acquainted. I can't even tell you how many people I had brief conversations with today. One little cutie even posed with me for a picture (again, the pro union sign seemed to be a hit).

The speakers were pretty good. About what I expected except that Virg Bernero
made an appearance, that was a nice surprise.


I would post some pics if I could get my damn phone to interface with my 'puter. I seem to have a glitch atm.. Maybe tomorrow.
