With the opposition to the UI for the unemployed by the pukes
Begs a question? How do unemployed people make a job for themselves? I'd like to know how they expect these people to survive. Do we just let the unemployed resort to killing or stealing or starving to death or dying of exposure? :wtf:

5. Yep, most will
but this time is different in that they're simply no one wanting to spend any money for do it yourself type jobs to be had. It only leads to a few options and most of them are illegal so whats a person to do today. By now many have wore the soles clean off their shoes looking for workI so pulling themselves up by their boot straps is only going to get shoe tops up around their privates. If one is not a drug user then that avenue isn't there to start selling drugs. Letting your family starve to death out in the wet and cold is not an option. Please Obama start a make works program, please. we all know we need a lot of infrastructure upgrades so why not do that?

It all comes down to our elected officials couldn't care less for us, simple as that.

6. Coworker of mine actually joined the army during one of our layoffs during the 1980's
Another apprentice in the same trade I was in. He was in his mid 30's. I never thought he would make it through boot camp without having a heart attack. He did. Still had to file for bankruptcy and lost his house. What a mess, eh madokie?

Oh, and thank you for the Merry Christmas in the other thread. I remember seeing it now and was going to reply but my wife called me to do something around here and I forgot.

Merry Christmas to you and yours. Hope you all have a great one.

Take care and see you later.

3. they are all shirkers living the high life on the gummint tit
to put it crudely.

A better question is just what the heck are the 99ers doing? There are now millions of people in that category and it is growing, not shrinking.

For all the concern expressed here that UIC extensions justified the capitulation on tax cuts, there is a stunning silence on the 99ers.

4. You don't think like one of them (fortunately for you)
They start with the idea that anytime somebody is unemployed, it's their own fault. Not the fault of the business owner who outsources all his jobs to India or sends all his manufacturing to China, not the banks who won't make loans to small businesses to allow them to hire anybody, and not the crappy economy which puts consumer spending in the dumper. It's always the fault of the person who is unemployed because if they weren't so fuckin lazy, they'd go out and find work.

And since they'd rather just sit around on their lazy fat asses, the repubs don't believe society owes them anything. If they want to eat or have a roof over their head they should get a job.

I agree with you it's hard to imagine that people believe this crap. But they do in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. And they'll keep believing it until they find themselves unemployed hungry and desperate.
