Mark I reactors store spent fuel in two concrete pools above the reactor chamber
Edited on Mon Mar-14-11 01:56 AM by kristopher
This blog has a good set of graphics and you can see that storage for spent fuel looks to be extremely vulnerable to the damage done by the hydrogen explosion.

Would there have been fuel in the pools? If so was it perhaps removed?

Where is it?

4. That is not spent fuel storage.
Edited on Mon Mar-14-11 02:03 AM by Paradoxical
It is used during refueling to store the replacement fuel and temporarily store the replaced fuel.

The spent fuel is stored in dry casks on site.

7. Where are the storage casks? There was an "after" photo yesterday. Are they still in place?

8. I haven't the slightest idea where they are.
I've tried looking at photos of the plant and I can't locate the casks. They are usually stored in a separate area on the premises.

Based on the damage to the rest of the plant, they could be anywhere. They could be sitting in the middle of a town 5 miles inland or at the bottom of the ocean.

6. The OP is wrong. Can we get a correction here?
Or are we just going to let yet another lie sit on this forum and fester?
