Ohio Gov. Kasich budget will include cuts, cuts, more cuts and privatization
Edited on Sun Mar-13-11 03:23 PM by upstatecajun
Details have been hard to come by; Kasich's staff has reduced the usual gusher of budget leaks to droplets. There were reports last week that Kasich may lease the Ohio Turnpike, privatize the Ohio Lottery and sell five prisons to private entities. One source told The Dispatch that three prisons could be sold and operated privately.

1. Oh, look! He's going to sell Ohio!
I suspect Cuomo is planning to sell New York. I know Bloomberg is.

3. Why not just sell the whole F'en place to China, for example, and be done with
it ... it's pretty clear the US isn't going to be a leader in the 21st century. Might as well sign up now as a subsidiary to some other country. Maybe that would make the R's happy.

2. Interesting how these guys think this cuts the cost of operations by selling off to
profit making operations. What a bunch of BS. Long term, tax payers will see their taxes go up to support this BS. Sweetheart deals. Well, let the teabaggers belly up to the bar and pay more taxes. For example, private health care works so F'en well.

4. Kasich is one of the founding members of the American Legislative Exchange Council. Their "model
legislation" is probably being used for much of the Ohio budget. The privatization of prisons, for example:

See the replies there about privatizing prisons in Arizona and Ohio. This sort of legislation is basically written for ALEC, and given to their politician members, by the corporations that will profit.

5. I'm sure most Americans are completely in the dark about this, not even vaguely aware
of what's going on. The American public for the most part is putty in their hands to shape as they wish IMO. Americans are not street smart, they take too much at face value and react to having their hot buttons pushed rather than thinking.

6. Those things will probably save money in the
short run. For instance if you privatize the lottery, prisons and turnpike you can replace state employees with low wage private employees. It just accelerates the race to the bottom. Once all the states privatize everything and eliminate all their unionized state employees, then what? They will get into a competition among states to cut the private companies costs and then where will be the first place they will look not what the CEOs make, the same place they always look the employees.

7. John is going to loot every last nickel for himself and his wall street buddies
I have known John for 20 years and he has always been nice to me
but make no mistake about it he thinks that Jesus came and walked
the earth so he can be President of the United States.

State Parks, Colleges, Universities, roads, prisons, minerals, and whatever else
he can get his hands on he will sell for pennies on the dollar to his rich friends.

8. Kasich to Privatize 5 prisons.. investors wanted.....
Kasich is going to give away the 5 prisons in Ohio to Corrections Corporation of America. (his Buddies)

In order to turn a profit.. they have to keep those prisons full.

Last week Kasich was making noses about Illegal Tobacco and Coffee. Cigarette smokers (already 3rd class citizens) and Starbucks coffee drinkers beware... the SWAT team waits for no one.

9. He hates us
It's really simple. Kasich hates everything about working class citizens. He wasn't born into a rich family, so he'll do anything to be part of the "cool kids". Selling off the State to his rich friends? Sure.
