1. kind of hard to understand, but:
Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 12:27 PM by Hannah Bell
incident has been rated level 4
(for comparison, 3-mile island = 5, chernobyl = 7)
1 casualty (from the explosion)

not clear on the progress of the cooling -- they didn't seem to address it
the female translator said temp was going down but apparently the announcement was so technical & the spokesman's voice so quiet they were having a hard time

http://yokosonews.com/live

Japanese authorities posted a short report on the IAEA's nuclear incident database, assigning the accident the level 4 on the international INES scale that runs from 1 (anomaly) to 7 (major accident).

A level-4 accident is defined as having 'local consequences,' such as a 'minor release of radioactive material,' according to the IAEA's definition.

4. there is some radiation leak outside the nuclear reactor, so there
Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 01:45 PM by Hannah Bell
has been core melt started & because of the extraction of the vapor that's how the radiation got leaked a little, up to 1015 micro SV right before the explosion --

after the explosion of the concrete block japanese nuke agency decided to use seawater as a seal of the reactor

started working on that at 8 am, completed at 1 pm

so...

according to what everyone says there's not much of a threat...

translator says don't trust me 100% i am giving non-technical explanation of what i heard (he's translating from tv)

i still believe there is a threat so we have to pay attention to it

all the international countries are arriving to help us

us is the one that is helping us the most, i believe chinese are sending rescue team, germany is sending, singapore rescue team has arrived, new zealand is sending...

this was translation of gov't official on the tv by this volunteer

5. nuclear reactor are not melting down
Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 01:53 PM by Hannah Bell
what i'm going to ask you edano's word chief cabinet secretary, there are many false informations going around the internet including twitter, facebook -- edano urges not to trust such things make sure to confirm with local authorities, gov't or trusted media source.

social media easy to be broadcasted & easy to keep up with people so ..

fukushima #1 is stabilized

translating from nhk

so then i'm going to say, some people on the facebook are saying how much can you trust the government how much can you trust (this translation) some guy online, so i'm going to say you shouldn't just be watching -- you look out nhk world, kyodo news, bbc, any other reliable mass media, read what they write & compare & decide what you think is the right infromation
