Walker rescinds layoff notices
Madison - Gov. Scott Walker on Friday directed two state agencies to rescind layoff notices because the Legislature passed the collective-bargaining bill.

Walker sent his directive to the state Department of Administration and the office of State Employment Relations.

Walker issued this statement: "The Legislature helped us save 1,500 middle-class jobs by moving forward this week with the budget repair. The state will now be able to realize $30 million in savings to balance the budget and allow 1,500 state employees to keep their jobs. The reforms contained in this legislation, which require modest health care and pension contributions from all public employees, will help put Wisconsin on a path to fiscal sustainability.

"While tough budget choices certainly still lie ahead, both state and local units of government will not have to do any mass layoffs or direct service reductions because of the reforms contained in the budget repair bill. Moving forward the hard-working, professional public sector employees who show up to work every day and do an excellent job will help ensure Wisconsin has a business climate that allows the private sector to create 250,000 new jobs."

1. If you pay the ransom up front,
we won't even have to kidnap your kid. How much is it worth to you to not put your child through that?

2. Does that motherf***er ever stop lying?
" ... will help ensure Wisconsin has a business climate that allows the private sector to create 250,000 new jobs."

1) Where are these jobs gonna come from?

b) The bill will kill thousands of jobs and thousands of professional public workers in Wisconsin will retire ASAP
in order to protect their retirement and health care benefits because if they wait they will lose them.

3. Here's the irony: Walker "rescinds" the 1,500 job lay-offs and has the
option of firing any or all of those 1,500 workers at any given time now that they aren't protected by collective bargaining.

What I'm waiting for: Walker to announce he's "created" 1,500 jobs by not going through with the lay-offs.

5. It was all a political stunt in the first place.
What about the debt refinancing that was necessary to save those jobs? That didn't get done but somehow has no influence. But crushing unions saves jobs how? -- FUCK YOU WALKER!

7. Yep.
The layoff notices were all part of his negotiation strategy from the beginning.

It was the gun held the their head.

It supposedly had nothing to do with Budget matters. That is how they got around not having a quorum. Now he is stating it is heavily involved in Budget matters and even lists dollar amounts..This si going to get tossed on several counts but this directive from Walker is now evidence.

12. Nah... it wouldn't be related to that.

That's not strictly true. They can "get around" that requirement for LOTS of things that ARE "budget matters". We've all (including myself) been using the shorthand that there's one quorum requirement for "fiscal" matters and one lower one for everything else. In reality, the higher standard is for very specific fiscal matters. There are others that it doesn't cover.

Which, of course, certainly doesn't mean that he wasn't lying. :)
