More privatization for Ohio,,,,

CLEVELAND -- A newspaper reports that the research arm of the Republican-controlled Ohio General Assembly is reviewing a proposal to put management of the Ohio Lottery in private hands.

3. OMG..full circle.
Anybody remember back to the 50's when lotteries were illegal because they were privately owned...by the mob?
That is my memory, West Coast in the '50's. All sorts of shenanigans were reported about "gambling" back then.

4. I have issues with lotteries in general... But I would NEVER

purchase a ticket from a privatized lottery. The only reason I occasionally do now, is because I reconcile that my $ goes to some concrete projects that I can not only see, but benefit from--parks and trails and bikepaths and the like--throughout Colorado.

Lotteries prey on the poor, but don't you think they MIGHT likewise be turned off, once educated on who was reaping the profits?

My contempt for Rethugs has had the bottom drop out. I'm learning though--in very real terms- the meaning of "infinite," however.

5. Better to just legalize casinos
I'd support that, but not privatization of lotteries.

8. Then why would anyone play the lottery then?
I certainly wouldn't. It's like volunteering to hand your money to the government favorite of the week.

This is why lotteries were banned to begin with.
