Coup in Qatar Aborted

Sabq: An attempted military coup in Qatar was aborted last week, reports said. Sheikh Hamed Ben Khalifa, Emir of Qatar, has successfully managed to foil the trial to topple his regime.

Sources close to the Qatari opposition abroad said "A number of Qatari senior military officers attempted a failed coup d'état last Thursday", Egyptian daily AlWafd reported, quoting Algerian daily 'Alnahar'.

"30 military officers were detained and 16 members of Aal Thani ruling family were put under house arrest," the anonymous sources added.
