That's what Anonymous is. It's everyone. Everywhere. Someone, under the name Anonymous, puts forth an idea and a plan. Other people either agree and join in, or don't. No one speaks for anyone else. Whoever took down the sites said they were Anonymous. Therefore Anonymous did it.

Anonymous seems very hard for people who grew up before the internet and who are used to more authoritarian top down organization to understand.

It's a cyber democracy. As someone said - if you're awesome you win, if you suck you lose. No names, no identities, no knowledge of the other person's gender or sexual orientation or skin tone or nation of origin or religion or anything, no differences in power. All you see is the idea and the plan, and you are free to agree, to join, to ignore, to flame, whatever. And the more people who agree and join, the more likely the plan is to actually happen.

Basically - it's the internet.

'Cuz last night in class I was trying to bring up his site to make a point. The point I was trying to make was about how to truncate the spellings of his name to turn up articles on how nuts he is (a student is writing about his erratic behavior).

When his web site didn't come up, I said to myself that things must be really bad for him now. What anonymous did was create an impression that Qadhafi is weak, beleaguered.
